Compare BOTW to Legends.
From the tutorial area. You can glide, climb, swim, cook, fight, do skateboarding tricks, mess with physics, chop down trees etc.
In legends, you can walk up a 2ft incline without sliding down. And throw pokeballs.
If you combined the two and had a sort of action based pokemon spinoff which uses botw and legends as a basis so you can actually attack with your pokemon like a simple hack and slash game. Climb walls yourself without being put in a box. then I'd be all for it.
The point goes with all open world games.
You can't have nothing in it. And you can't fill it with busywork. You need to give people a REASON to look up and search every corner for rare weapons/mons and cosmetics.
