I look up walkthroughs sometimes, so I can have a step by step guide to make sure I don't miss any important stuff like TMs while going through a route, and so I know what pokemon I can encounter as I'm going through the game.
The way serebii has a sidebar on a games page with a bunch of stuff like pages for new pokemon, features, rival battle teams and stuff like that is always convenient.
I guess I basically only find myself on these sites to get sprites/renders, or to get info while replaying a game
