now streaming has given the viewer the choice and more often then naught long running tv shows are a thing of the past. why continue watching the same show with the same characters when you could watch that new series that everyone is talking about.
disney has caught on and now release "limited series" like the marvel shows and some star wars shows which are basically the equivalent of episodic series or anthologies.
video games however are different and we have no idea how long theyll stick around before they get replaced by the next big thing, as long as gamefreak keeps profiting off the new pokemon games; which according to sales is basically a money machine, then pokemon will be around for a while.
