The only real pokemon were gen 1 and 2, the planned series before Masuda took over. Nothing else is a realmon, except ones that were repurposed/added later from gen 1/2 beta builds.

Same. The feeling started creeping in at gen4 for me, but at least half of them still felt like pokemon. But from gen 5 and up almost nothing has really seemed like a pokemon to me. They all just seemed like a combination of phone game ripoffs and sonic characters. You could Alt-F4 everything post-D/P/PL and the only ones I would miss would be Mimikyu and Solgaleo.

Pokémon's style has never been consistent and every generation has had it's own style, so you could argue every generation's designs have looked like Fakemon compared to the original batch.
The thing with the last few gens is that, on the whole, the designs look less like a cool Fakemon design that a fan at least put some thought and effort into and more like something from a lame Pokémon knock-off that was designed by committee to be marketable.

I mean yeah that's what you get when zoomies only want nugen Pokemon on Gym Leaders :^)
there's not THAT much lazy designs by gen, though
like usually three evo lines at max
(for Gen 8, Wooloo and Sinistea lines, Eiscue, and the DLC horses)
(for Gen 1, Diglett, Seel, Krabby lines, Tauros)

This. I can't even remember more than 10 non-mythical pokemon from Gen 4 that isn't a starter. Staraptor and Luxray are the only ones that I can remember on top of my head.

Honestly, it's just you. I thought the Galar dex was largely pretty shit with a few standouts, but even the ones I hated didn't look like fakemon, they just looked like bad Pokemon.

For as much as fans cry and pee about how ugly the newer designs are, they can't design a monster themselves to save their fucking lives. Just take a look at any fanmade game or fakemon thread, almost all of it is absolutely laughable.

He's not completely wrong. Sinistea itself is fairly inspired with the arm forming half of the handle and the pattern on the cup forming a false face, but Polteageist loses both of those elements and is basically just purple Flubber in a teapot.

Pokemon isn't the same thing anymore, the designs started to be westernized during gen 4. Most Pokemon looks like cartoon characters instead of monsters now, i feel like it is a completely different game and his original identity was lost long ago.

Consider that Pokemon is so old that people that grew up with the originals are now able to work as artists for game freak and design pokemon. Now all the pokemon are fanmade.

It started realy with gen 4. Most of them were decent. But espicially the new evolutions for older mpn showed the wrong direction the designs were going.

Same feel, we used to have lot of fakemon threads back in Gen 5 when the board was born and the new legendaries and some cutemons from the following gens unironically look like they were coming from those fake region dex.
Stuff like prof Turo even looks like those YT and DA OC trainers used as avatars.

Fan of Poltegeist (mom's ghost ditto) and Vullaby only cute Turnermons, rest is simply awful and borderline offensive design wise.
Lego turtle, Linoone becoming bipedal, jobmons, fucking Calyrex as a whole.
It's always some 20% pokemon + 80% fakemon and merch toys friendly designs.
