Motorcycles have existed since the late 1800's, which is more than 2 human lifetimes before those of us who grew up with gen 1 were born and sounds like an eternity ago to young kids who can't even imagine not having 24/7 access to the internet. Koraidon only seems like a bad representation of the concept of the past because so far the only other thing we have is a cavewoman professor, but I'd bet money that there's gonna be other stuff from eras in-between. Likewise we'll probably see representation of different eras of the future than just a jet bike and some weird clothes. Hell a lot of near-future stuff, given things in other pokemon games like the holocaster and the ability to teleport pokemon anywhere via the pc, are less futuristic and more common modern stuff in-universe which makes a simple combustion engine on rubber tires seem even older in contrast.
