Haven't seen much buzz about Pokemon Crystal Clear here. I just downloaded it this weekend and it is fantastic. It's a remake of Crystal for GBC set one year after the events in Crystal.
What makes it unique is that it is entirely open world - there is no main story and you're free to play however you want. Its almost like a Pokemon version of Skyrim. There is minor trainer customization (appearance and starting town) and you can tackle all 16 gyms in any order. Trainer and gym leader difficulty scale to the number of badges you have. All 251 Pokemon are available for capture and there is even an tradeback NPC in the game allowing you to evolve your trade evolution Pokemon.
On top of that, you can download a .GBC version of the game for emulators or a .CIA for a homebrewed 3DS. Highly recommend you check it out. You can get more info about the game from this link: http://shockslayer.com
