Is original SM Lusamine ever going to be topped?

Ever since she came out GF has tried their damnest to backpedal on her (USUM and the anime) to pretend she never happened.

Are we ever going to have a truly despicable villain again or GF will just keep making cartoony goofs from now on?

I don't understand what people don't get about the story. Lusamine was being controlled by Nihilego, and she is saved earlier in usum. The climax is different, but she was still crazy. Nobody is trying to pretend it never happened, that's silly.
I prefer the original sm climax, too, but usum is still very cool.

Honestly she's at the top of the charts for villains in the franchise. My only real complaint is how unrealistic her abuse is but that's more of a nitpick than anything.
Ghetsis is a close second though. Literally willing to murder children instantly after showing up in a new universe. Love this crazy bastard.

SM wasn't trying to make Lusamine look like a dindunuffin like USUM. She became a despicable person and wasn't being "mind-controlled" by Nihilego. The aftermath of her character is explored in the gacha Masters where she's accepting the fact she was not a good mother and is trying to make amends.

Of course she's not innocent and she's still responsible for her actions, but she's been influenced by nihilego since mohn left and deserves some sympathy - in both versions. That is how the story goes.

No, in S/M MC and Lillie have to go to Nihilego land and tell her to stop being a fucking retard and she was going back home. USM is the one who tries and fails to show her in a more sympathetic light but it looks hollow and forced, even the Manga did it better.

I think that both stories are valid and you can prefer whichever. It's weird to act like sm's story is someone brushed under the rug? The other stories are just their own thing. Usum, anime, manga all treat the situation differently, but that doesn't make one any more valid than the other.

I would say Ghetsis is more villainous than Lusamine. She was quite open about the abuse and shit, while Ghetsis was patiently grooming N for years before unleashing his true goals. That's why Lillie fucked off at the first chance, and N stuck by his father.

It's not so strange, you have your own journey of exploration and battle mastery but the MC is really best left a blank slate. I can understand that people would feel more attached to a story about them, or their character, though. Even in SwSh it felt more like a story about the failure of adults than your character's success.
