>>50684977gen 4 really made most shitmons brutal, as a '96 pseudo-zoomer my first games were firered and emerald, so when i first played pearl like 15 years ago, even as a shitter I was surprised by how many moves all pokemon are suddenly learning, and having the massively wide movesets gen 4 mons got, combined with physical/special split, makes me enjoy the dppthgss games a whole ton, since the replay value is so high precisely because of how nearly no mons are unusable and you can try any team.
pokemon movesets will never be the same as they were in 4 tho, just recently played bd as my newest pokemon game since gen 6, and those crackhead game designers really decided to remove literal SIGNATURE MOVES such as bone club, magnet bomb, trump card, signal beam, etc, but somehow gyarados learning waterfall at level 20 and ohkoing the entire game is considered reasonable
