Why are they so obsessed with this archetype for pure-fighting types (and pretty much all the other Fighting-types, too). And don't forget, all 8 of these mons were in the base SWSH roster.

Balance.

If every Fighting type was a powerful Physical sweeper with 100+ base speed, the game would become unbalanced. The slow speed is there to make sure these pokemon aren't broken or too OP.

You right but the rest are PLUS the Hitmons which have similar stat spreads. Why are there so many pure Fightings in that base roster? AND they added 3 more. Falinks, Sirfecth'd and Grapploct all could have had dual typings to help them stand out.

To have more Pokemon weak to CHARIZARD, honestly feel bad about responding with a shitpost since you asked a genuine question, but I can't think of an actual reason for having so many pure fighting types in the game when Game Freak claimed the Dexcut was for balance.

I think it comes down to the line they always fall back on "they want it to be simple and understandable for kids." I don't agree with it but here we are. The only Fighting types that get to be anything different are special Mary Sues like Lucario.

Also the G-Farfetch'd line should have kept the Flying type but I guess that would take away from special G-Zapdos. Same for Grapploct, who could have been part Water (Urshifu needed to be special) and Falinks who could have been part Steel or they could have even made it an actual Bug or shit even a Fairy so we'd get that type combo for the first time (but... They wanted it to be a shitmon? Idk, they just didn't want to do more with it)

I noticed this when I wanted to do restricted sparring with mons/forms that gen 8 introduced. There were 3 pure fightings, 4 with gmax machamp, and the two half-fightings were legends, both of which are pure fighting in a lesser form too.

Zamazenta (Fighting/Steel)
Zapdos (Fighting/Flying)
Urshifu (Fighting/Dark, Fighting/Water)
Decidueye, Lilligant (Fighting/Grass)
Sneasler (Fighting/Poison)

Gen VIII had a pretty decent haul of Fighting dual-types all things considered.

When I was doing my restricted sparring Crown tundra hadn’t come out at the time. Zamazenta and Urshifu were the only half-fightings at that point and they were both legends and had lesser forms (Hero form, Kubfu) that were pure fighting too.
You’re right that it did get some more variety with G Zap, and Hisuians later though.

same reason most rock and ground mons had the same spreads until gen 4-5 where game freak realized that with the phys/special split perhaps those types did need less clichè spreads and species too

note that in tcg fighting/ground/rock have always been the same type all these years where some others had retcons and seasonal discontinuities

Also you did miss the whole Fighting recurring gen gimmick, the Fighting martial arts that are often easier to sum up with a pure typing and most of those martial art categories are pretty much based on sheer strength and techniques save few exceptions like Mienshao or Medicham that still have gimmicks or spreads favoring physical attack.

Military fighting war strats as phalanx still count, maybe needed a Roman testudo formation being defensive or balanced counterpart.

Not a fan of "group of mons" being treated as single individual speciesmen, at least in this specific case.

Machamp and Conkeldurr are my favorite pokemon of all time, and I like Sawk and Falinks, but yeah they definitely need to think of a differnet build and niche for future fighting types. If I had my way, I'd have tweaked the existing mons so they get their useful niches

That tierlist is based on preference + usage. D tier doesn't mean I necessarily hate them. Some of them, I just never got the chance to use. UBs in general are an iffy concept for me although Pheromosa is unique enough for me. Part of my disposition against Buzzwole is clearly because it sort of infringes on Machamp's shtick
