I respect your good taste but I feel their are better choices. Ampharos has a prominent role in the GSC story and Game Freak loved it enough to give a mega when they went out of their way to give the starters nothing. Tyranitar is basically the "Mewtwo" of GSC, (extremely powerful monster that you find in an end game dungeon and has bein constantly been one of the strongest Pokemon in the game, it's even part Dark type (discovered in Gen 2).
