It's also used to argue the resemblance of the source material, outright dismissing any deviations. Every artist has quirks that define their art and by extension tastes that make it into their work even.
My arguments stem from breaking silhouettes. Characters have silhouettes and features in their designs that places them under certain tropes which dictates what can be done with them. That's why you have Delphox "moms". That's why there's "shortstack" Braixens. The skirt give the illusion of wide hips, which allows for them.
