People keep complaing about ice, but atleast they have hail, and even have blizzard and ice beam. What does bug have? Fucking silver wind?

Type chart is huge. Taking 50% less damage from Close Combat, Mach Punch, Drain Punch, Earthquake, Earthpower, Precipice Blades, Grassy Glide, and Energy Ball is way better than taking 50% less damage from Blizzard, Ice Beam, and Freeze Dry.

Bug Buzz would still be Bug type. Fighting type exists simultaneously with Mega Punch, Fire Punch, Ice Punch, Thunder Punch, Falcon Punch, Sucker Punch, Bullet Punch, and Shadow Punch. Sound type could coexist with Bug Buzz being Bug type and Metal Screech being Steel type

Some Pokemon within a type having a busted move does not help the type. Even if half of all Bug Pokemon were 680 BST legendaries, the type would still be shit even though Ubers is filled with Bugs. Quiver Dance and Sticky Web are exclusive to a small handful of Pokemon.

Unless it was widespread throughout the type it would hardly matter. Also it would be quickly banned by Smogon and VGC players would shit loudly on Twitter until Game Freak does something about it. Game Freak started dabbling with VGC bans in Sword and Shield, there's no reason to believe they won't try again in Scarlet and Violet.

Bug should have a move like a swarm. Pretty much sandstorm with chip damage, but any consumable item is eaten by the swarm for non-bug types.

That would make it even worse. Any OHKO move is inherently uncompetitive since there is no counterplay. Explosion is allowed to exist even though it can effectively OHKO a ton of Pokemon is that you sacrifice your Pokemon to use it and strong physical walls, Ghost types, and Pokemon with Damp can absorb it.

Bug is actually has a pretty good spread attacking wise. Not so much in the amount of types it's good against but the weird spread of them making it hard to plan around bug STAB. Like it resists Fighting and Ground but is SE on Psychic and Grass? It means it doesn't neatly slot into the standard "cores" of a lot of teams, meaning that there's usually something the enemy has that will get bodied by Bugs.
The Problem of course is stats. Doesn't matter what your typing is when GameFreak hates giving you anything with more than 333 BST. Similar to how Ice Types could be really good if they gave it to fast attackers instead of slow defenders. But even then we have some great bugs like Volcorona and Escavilier where they give them the same stats as any other type.

Pokemon can be good in spite of their types. If you took Zacian and changed its type from Steel/Fairy to Ice/Poison it would still be broken even if it went from the best type combo to the worst. The doesn't mean that the type chart isn't very important.

Typing is only half of what makes a Pokemon good. The other half is stats/abilities/move pool.

Do you not understand the difference between "a huge factor" and "the only factor"?
Yes, a Pokemon with a shit typing can be good if it has legendary-tier stats, an amazing ability, and a busted movepool.
The vast majority of Pokemon don't have all of those things, so a hindering type just puts them in the negatives.

There are tons of good bug pokemon, and they've consistently gotten better over the generations with the inclusion of more non-shitmons, more powerful moves like x-scissor, etc. I don't want to hear any bitching when stuff like Heracross, Scizor, Forry, and Ninjask exists.

ice is far more fucked. And it's not even necessarily an issue with the type chart. Not having any resistances would've been fine had the type actually been utilized as such. But instead Gamefreak insists on trying to make every ice type a slow bulky tank, which the type just cannot do well. Meanwhile stuff like Weavile was top-tier, because they finally made a fast ice mon.
The other issue with ice is that literally every water mon gets access to ice beam so it's too easy to get the offensive coverage that ice gives you without the drawbacks of using an ice mon itself.

And the funny thing is it wasn't until recently, because ice didn't get a widely distributed good physical ice move until 4 generations later in Triple Axel which is still only just okay.
Bug had basically all the tools it needed (X-Scissor, Bug Buzz, Megahorn) to flourish as of Gen 4, then proceeded to get more things like Volcarona, Genesect, Sticky Web, Gen 5 and 7 were amazing for Bug types in general, Gen 7 literally made the super popular and lovable evil team leader a Bug trainer. What did Gen 7 give Ice type? One Pokemon, Crabominable.
And who cries louder, every thread? Bugfags. I guess it makes sense, the type known for being annoying and gross has the most annoying and gross fans

bugs get some of the best boosting moves in the game in quiver dance and tail glow. the problem with bug types isn’t the moves. it’s the fact that their amazing boosting moves have limited distribution.
almost every fucking dragon type gets dragon dance but only the moths and butterflies get quiver dance.
give quiver dance to yanmega you bastards

These factors add up. A good typing can make a mediocre mon good or a good mon great. A bad typing can make a mediocre mon bad or a bad mon shit.

Good resistances, weaknesses aren't crippling, decent reliable mid-power moves, STAB U-Turn, good utility moves like Quiver Dance, Tail Glow, and Sticky Web.
The problem is that most Bug-types have such bad stats. Bug-types with decent BST's tend to be good. But most of them are stuck with a sub-500.
