Sprig looks more feminine than either Fuecoco or Quaxly do, just as Scorbunny, Popplio and Fennekin look moreso than Sobble/Gerookey, Litten/Rowlet or Froakie/Chespin. It;s gonna grow up to be the girly starter.
I know you want to delude yourself, think they aren't pandering to people you don't like. But there's still girls in the world and they're not at the stage of life where they're cynical as fuck, so they'll see a girly cat starter and pick that, especially if they have a cat in the real world. It's just a bonus they get to use it to pull double-duty with the furfags.
