By making a group of people who didn't like the game invested in it through hatred, he has successfully kept that group of people interested in Pokemon. His fanbase of people disillusioned with pokemon would've probably have moved on from pokemon by now if it weren't for content like his. DK is an almost direct inverse of traditional pokemon shills, but that means that its existence is a reference and reflection of that content. He may have completely opposite takes but his entire online existence still relies on pokemon and ultimately still gives them free advertising
