It's not good. I'm stuck at Wattson with nowhere to grind. They gave every Gym Leader a fourth Pokémon for the sake of it. Like, there's literally no reason for Wattson to have an Electrike when he has a Manectric, Winona a Swablu when she has an Altaria etc.

Are you underleveled anon? Post your team, every single starter does fine VS Wattson, Marshtomp in particular insta-wins the fight and you can get a Geodude early or a grass type to resist electric type shit

Anyway Tengu can deal with the pure electric types just fine, but you have nothing for Magneton. Catch a Makuhita back in the Dewford Cave and level it up in the Daycare Center by riding your bike while watching YouTube.

Your problem is you have literally nothing for magneton. It's not that the game is too hard, it's just that Watson will filter anyone without at least 1 of the small handful of counters available by then. You basically need one of

Because zoomers unironically think forcing you to use a pokemon's weaker attack stat for certain moves is bad game design. They think every pokemon should have one attack stat that's just completely useless and they should be able to run any type coverage they want only using it's strongest attacking stat because anything less than MAXIMUM DAMAGE OUTPUT is just unacceptable for some reason. Their heads would literally explode before they could use Giga drain on a breloom.

If you’re looking into just the mainline games, Emerald and FRLG, maybe Crystal if you’re interested in seeing the original gen 2. Otherwise, you can also throw in Colosseum and XD on GameCube for the full gen 3 experience (play Colo first, XD is literally a sequel to it).

I understand for competitive people want the ideal movesets so you can just click one button to win but for single player the games are already super easy. You can beat the game without any knowledge of game mechanics. I beat emerald without any knowledge of natures, IVs, EVs, or stats. The only thing I knew was STAB. It's the most simple kind of trial and error.

Kek, I remember something similar happening to me when I was 11 or 12 playing Emerald. I was stuck in a shitty island with nowhere to grind my Pokémon thus it was impossible to defeat the twins. I threw the cartridge to the floor not even that hard and the game died. Emerald was my first Pokémon game too

Emerald is good but it still has some major flaws like not being able to rematch Steven and the Pokemon League staying the same after beating it once. At least Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire upgraded the League

Yeah Hoenn has shit grinding but you should only be underleveled if you're catching and training late game mons, the trainers in the region give you all the xp you need. If it gets too tedious just use the daycare

The no-split sucks for some mons but makes others cooler.

ex. moves like thunderpunch can be more powerful on a special attacker like drowsee. just makes it more interesting. but other mons like weavil lose out big time since ice and dark are special and its special is shit.

I can't really explain it but it's something you get used to and realize in post generations that having Pokemon with minmaxed stats and amazing STAB moves that are covered by their better stat is from time to time even worse than broken abilities that were later released.

I like it when when post game gives us stronger gym leaders and Elite 4. BDSP had the League upgrade their teams not only once but TWICE, With items+extra Pokemon+higher level. In ORAS they gave all the elite 4 an extra Pokemon and a key stone. Well, Emerald is extremely old so i guess i can't complain too much, after all they only began truly upgrading the Elite 4 and Gyms with Heartgold and Soulsilver

The battle factory took me a shit ton of attempts to get the gold symbol, this is the hardest and the most fun place IMO. All the battle facilities are pretty fun, except for the battle palace, fuck that shit.

Yeah, that was cool. Is a shame Platinum's Elite 4 didn't get a six Pokemon and different teams although their teams were already pretty diverse so i guess i can't complain Should have given the Gym leaders an extra mon in the rematchs tho

The level curve is tighter in general but in my experience I've never been more than 5 levels lower than any of the major battles outside the E4, so I've never needed to grind. Especially not for Winona, she's like 2 levels above Norman and there's LOADS of trainers between them. IME the roughest the level curve ever get's is right before Norman. You're likely gonna be level 25 or so right after Flannery and there's only like 5 or so optional trainers between them, so he's a good jump up in levels, probably the only time you'll feel like you might need to grind if you don't have a way to cheese his slackings
