I've never cared about legendaries. As a kid, or now. Gamefreak seems to think everyone goes crazy for legendaries, they are on the box arts, the promotional material, the movies, etc.

Am I in the minority, or is this a case of Gamefreak saying "we will force this upon you until you like it"

Kids are obseesed with Legendaries.
I never cared about them as well.
I do have my favs (like Giratina or Zekrom) but I never use them online.

Just today I noticed I liked a lot of legendary Pokemon. I totally get not liking some of them. I find DP and BW have the weakest legendary roster design wise. It's weird not to like any of them. It's clear they invest more time and effort into legendary designs, just like starters. Admitting to not liking any of them is admitting to disliking some of the best designs.

Depends on the legendary really. This is the first set of paired dragons I’ve actually liked for example. I didn’t like DP or BW’s legendaries even if their respective third legends were very cool. I didn’t care about SWSH’s dogs either for example, but most other boxart duos I’ve at least enjoyed one of them.

Mewtwo / Mew got people hyped so they're grandfathered in. The Trio... well, also grandfathered in.
Ho-Oh / Lugia worked. The Beasts pissed everyone off with how they'd flee and roam, but otherwise were fine.
Groudon / Kyogre worked. Rayquaza was an interesting choice. The Latis were just jet-birds so that wasn't interesting. The Regis were more interesting as ancient elemental golems.
Palkia / Dialga... not as well, but Giratina was cool. The psychic fae were weird, the new Regi-boss forced, lava monster half-assed, and the literal moon monster didn't interest me.
Zekrom / Reshiram, and later Kyurem can all go fuck themselves. Weird elemental deer and elemental skygods also can go fuck themselves.
Xerneas / Yveltal (and Zygarde) were more interesting but didn't wow me.
Solgaleo / Lunala ... eh. Weird hippogryff, totem pole masks, and the vaguely humanoid black gemstone... eh.
Zacian / Zamazenta were fucking shit. Didn't give a shit about the new Regis, Boxing Ursaring, Ice Rapidash, Ghost Rapidash, bulbous rabbit, or succubus skycloudgod. Voxel hand was... eh.

I'll take the motorcycle/jetboost dragons over the recent attempts at Legendaries.

If I like a legendary, it's because I like it. Simple as.
Whether or not others like a legendary has no bearing on whether or not I like that legendary. And disliking a Pokemon just because it's everywhere is just as mindless as liking it just because it's everywhere.
