>>50756087> ORAS are flawed games, but still funI guess, but my problem is that they should've been far more. Yeah, QoL stuff like dexnav and having physical/special split was nice. But in terms of the game world itself, it was so lazily just a 1:1 copypaste of the tiles from the GBA titles, rather than actually re-imagining Hoenn as a proper 3D game world. It's especially noticeable when the handful of new original areas (the cave where Steven brings you to Latios, the redone exit from Victory Road, nu-sky-pillar, etc) actually do look interesting and make good use of polygonal environments. But then the rest of the game, directly lifted from R/S, just goes back to the same old square grid 90 degree angle flat shit.
And I harp on the graphics/style because the game doesn't really add anything of substance beyond the small QoL features I mentioned previously. Instead, it just removes stuff, both content from ruby/sapphire like a few side-dungeons, as well as completely omitting all the Emerald content. So in terms of content it's a step backwards, and visually I really don't even find it to be an improvement either and it doesn't take advantage of the jump from 2D to 3D well at all, so... what's even the point? Just wish they did more with it. Not bad, but the opportunity cost of not getting properly done Hoenn remakes is disappointing.
