This is a series with giant sea snakes shooting beams of energy, dragons spitting fire, giant lizards with blades on their arms, etc. and they're facing off against the little drummer boy here. The fact that other things can fight immediately but rillaboom's got to take a minute to pull out his drum, pull out his drumsticks, and play a lil diddy for them is downright comical and I really don't think it's supposed to be. It's not cute, it's not cool, it's not (intentionally) funny, it's not really interesting...what's the appeal? It's a monkey? There's tons of great looking primate pokemon like oranguru, why shill for this? It looks strong I guess, until you see how it fights. Complete swing and a miss. "Drumming gorilla" is a concept that could've worked on something that leaned harder into the tough aspect, like a savage gorilla that uses drumsticks to make music using its opponents, or something softer that uses music for support. Or just something that makes music without a prop as poorly implemented as that drum and with a design that isn't patrat tier boring. Rillaboom doesn't lean into anything besides the unloved starters club, and that's a damn shame.
