Have an anti-piracy measure that bricks your switch, and then fuck up and have the anti-piracy measure only work on legitimate copies of the game.
Then afterwards, as an apology, tell everyone who had their switches bricked to send in their names and addresses and they'll be mailed a new switch and a properly functioning copy of the game. It will take over a year to send them all out (most players will just get new switches by then) and most of the switches will be cracked and broken because a small indie company can't afford bubble wrap.
And finally, hold onto their personal information and "accidentally" let it leak to the public, doxxing everyone who requested a new switch.

No elite 4, saved for dlc.
Introduce concept of buying pokemon packs as dlc. So you can play with your "favorite" Pokemon. Don't include all mons. Possibly by tying in special Pokémon card game cards Ala amiibos.
Introduce another form change gimmick in DLC, only applies to shillmon that won't be mentioned again.

Pull a Telltale and release the game in episodes.
One episode for each gym leader, and the last one is the E4 and champion. 9 episodes total, and it'll be stretched out over the 3 years between now and gen 10. One episode every 4 months.
And no, there will not be enough content to justify this. It will still take the same amount of in-game time between each gym leader as a normal game, but with 4 months of waiting.

A system will be implemented to make it so that IV's are actually individual and no 2 Pokemon of the same species can ever have the same IV spread.
If anyone ever catches a Pokemon, its species and IV spread are stored on the blockchain or whatever and it's prevented from ever appearing in the wild for anyone else (unless that person releases it). This will of course mean that you need to always play online, making the games literally unplayable once Switch servers shut down.
Bottlecaps are removed and a Pokemon needs to have at least 3 IV's of either 30 or 31 to be shiny.
