Itemless in battle like how most Poketubers do it, you have Weedle in Gen 1 (cannot beat Agatha because Poison Sting is just too weak versus her Gengars), Magikarp in several games, Tynamo in Gen 5 (cannot get past Shauntal's mandatory Golurk). There's also several examples in later games (barring Gen 6 and onward, because theoretically Amie could proc forever) where shitmons cannot make it past the E4 or weird gauntlets, this is why Poketubers tend to use 'weak but still usable mons' in Gen 4 or 5. Kricketot for instance would get obliterated in either of those games itemless.
