Yes because I always pick the Grass starter on my first playthrough. This will never change, even if the future Grass starters are uglier than Popplio.

For Gold and SoulSilver, yes. For Silver, Crystal, and HeartGold, I did Cyndaquil instead

I picked Chikorita in Crystal to see what everyone was so upset about. I also picked Charmander in Blue for the same reason. They certainly aren't easy mode but they get the job done. Level 46 Meganium helped me beat Red.

YOU KNOW DAMN WELL I DID. Meganium is my favorite pokemon of all time. There is nothing more based than choosing chikorita. It's a statement: "I don't give a shit about the meta OR the common consensus. I will play the game with whatever pokemon I want to."
