They tried, but going rock/dragon when the strongest biting move is dark type was a bit of a misplay. Probably should've given it a dragon type biting move as a signature at least.
At least they didn't make the same mistake with Dracovish, arguably they over-corrected with it.

strong jaw just makes all bite moves effectively stab, so it has excellent coverage without having to worry about the lack of stab.
does depend on how you run it though, i like choice band head smash so I just delete everything.

Tyrantrum having STAB biting moves would've ruined game balancing unlike the Completely Balanced Cinderace™.

But knowing their signature class-act incompetence they managed to royally fuck up in one aspect, and it's this webm.

They repeated it with Drednaw in a way that's probably more stupid than what they did with Tyrantrum. Drednaw has Strong Jaw AND a biting move that's exclusive to it. But guess what, Jaw Lock is a Dark-type move while Drednaw is Water/Rock so no STAB. The Pokémon can also learn Head Smash (via level up) but unlike Tyrantrum it doesn't have Rock Head.

More than that, it's exasperating that there isn't a ROCK-type biting move.
Gen 6 released a fossil tyrannosaurus with Strong Jaw!... who gets more mileage out of its other ability.
Gen 7 released three pure Rock-type wolves!... who mainly chuck pebbles or punch stuff like a Hitmon.
Gen 8 released a snapping turtle with its own biting sig move!... that happens to be literally Crunch but worse.
You could even make a case for Aerodactyl, Aggron, and Archeops all warranting some kind of Rock bite. I don't even care if it's called something punny like Tooth Pick. It's long overdue.

Jaw Lock should have been a Rock type move. There's literally no reason for it to be Dark type just like how there was literally no reason for Snap Trap to be Grass and not Steel.

At least in this case the needed moves don't exist. Aerodactyl has Rock Head and despite Rock and Flying both having great recoil moves (Head Smash and Brave Bird) it learns neither, just fucking Double Edge.

This is why when I bred a bunch of Strong Jaw Tyrunts I got a shit ton of bite moves on them with D Dance. It was my gift to the world when breeding for my shiny. It's so annoying they don't come with anything. But yeah I hate that there isn't a rock type biting move.

Rock type getting a biting move would make sense now for sure, but dragon not having one always confused me since most dragon types had fangs. Only reason I can think of for them not doing it yet is most the ones that could also learn Dragon Claw so gf probably couldn't think of a way to differentiate the two.

I'd increase it to 90 because 100% accuracy is OP for a move with 150 BP, but then again Fisheous Rend and Bolt Beak exist.

But I completely agree that Game Freak is retarded and that there should be biting moves for Tyrantrum to have STAB on.
