You can have both ya know. Not all pokemon have to be friendly monster buddies and not all have to be murderous monsters. We have Pokemon that can speak English and pokemon that can't its pretty apparent that pokemon are pretty varied and less binary.

Yeah, no, that's just not how it is mate. You cannot say this about a series with things like Ahtal-Ka, Brachydios, Valstrax, Mizutsune, Almudron, Zamtrios and so much more. There may be some generic shitters like Anjanath and Blangongo but those are exceptions and not the rule.

It is a dragon. There's no problem with something being a dragon.
But the amount of depth and substance that goes into Valstrax (and every other monster's) biology and function that makes it an interesting and believable creature completely mogs any Pokemon. Compare it to Pokemon's plane dragons, especially Garchomp who is just "dragon but spikes lol and it flies just because", and it fucking blows them all out of the water in terms of creativity.
