it sucks that the memory i have of this game is almost debilitating. i loved and played pokemon since r/b/y but when emerald came out, even as a ~5th grader, i was like "wtf, they're selling me the same game that i just spent 2 years playing the fuck out of with all my friends." so that was when pokemania died for me. i stopped playing for almost a decade. the reason the memory sucks is becsause this is hailed as one of the best games in the series, and i feel like i missed out. oh well
