In the games Pokemon eat regular food like people. Snacks, vending drinks, pastries, curry, and even sushi at one point.

Again, unless you change literal history, you can't debate it. Games always create the lore and content first. Anime then borrows what was created a year or so later.

What does that have to do with anything? In Arceus you keep Pokémon inside a pasture like they're cows and sheep and the hay piles around imply they eat hay. They're not let inside the town unless they're with their owner. And in HGSS following Pokémon barked and chewed on everything including your shoes. BDSP has Pokémon doing the same shit as HGSS. It's not only the anime that does that, the games do it too and they're even worse about it.

it's almost like the point of the series is you're a pokemon TRAINER meant to TRAIN wild monsters to bring out their best so they become not wild.

No they don't have kids. The whole quest line is vague about everything and it doesn't say anything like that. And yes, the Pokémon are being contained inside a fence, the only thing stopping them is a fence which an NPC notes that it certainly isn't enough. But the Pokémon are docile enough that a fence can contain them just like real animals on a farm.
