How do you feel about Pokemon adding another new type or two? This one seems kinda promising, it's from a fangame I think. It also buffs ice which is a plus for me.

Fuck that. That said though, I actually wouldn't mind more types in the game being added over time. The only issue I see is that because there are already 18 types that cover a broad range of concepts, anything new has to either be very specific or have a lot of thematic overlap with existing types.

Balance what there is now.

Adding a random type to balance things just kicks the can, see Fairy. Bring in Fairy, Steel, and Water, raise up Ice, Rock, Poison, and Bug, and we can talk.

Then, hard avoid "substance" types, they usually spawn endless amounts of incredibly cursed pokemon that are artificially forced into a similar mold, look at Ice and its predisposition for slow, defensive, living chunks of ice that are all shit.

LOL no. If anything I'd advocate for merging a few of the existing ones like Rock/Ground and Ice/Water and rebalancing around that.

I like the concept of Rubber well enough, I'm glad it's gained a bit of traction in recent years even though I'd never expect it to actually happen. Some of the Pokemon in that list are weird, though. No need to retype Whismur, Chansey, Snorlax, Wailmer, Porygon2. The rest are fine.

I still think Cosmic is the best choice for a new type, though, unironically followed by Sound.
