i goofed up big time and forgot the anistar city rival fight and i ended up underleveled a bit. i thought my azumarill could easily take out serena's absol with superpower. it could not.
losing azumarill hurts but it didn't have huge power so i'm not terribly upset by it. only issue now is that i was planning to bring azu into the e4 to deal with most of the dragon and fire e4 and to deal with diantha's goodra, but looks like i'm gonna have to improvise

Question: so I started an X Nuzlocke and made it so that I can’t use any Kanto Pokémon, including any Pokémon that has an evolution from another generation.

Regarding that, I do allow gift Pokémon. So should the Kanto starters be allowed or just be used as PC filler?

So meanwhile, as I'm training and getting stronger in the HeartGold nuzlocke for battling Chuck's Gym, let's take a peek at what's going on in Fire Red land--

Progress: Beat Lt. Surge, and traversing the Rock Tunnel. No Drowzee in route 11, and no findable beasts in routes 6, 9, and 10 (until I get at least the Good Rod).

Fate does not want me to have a Meowth or Mankey on hand, it seems (lost them both on the S.S. Anne).

A buddy is staying with me for a while, and he has Sword... so I'm doing a (more or less) blind Nuzlocke of Sword. I'm not grabbing the first pokemon I see in a route, but am either getting one of the random grass encounters, or occasionally saying fuck it and getting one I can see that seems neat. Or fishing.
Set, no items for now, handling each area of the wild area as a route... no idea how I'm handling dens. Might just ignore them.

I just got my first badge, Carjabug soloed hard, didn't even need to Dynamax, I thought I was overlevelled like fuck at 22, but was on par-ish. Not bad.
No deaths so far, had a close call on a wild Machop that almost killed Scorbunny with a Revenge, got down to 2 HP, and the Cherubi, which was in Sun, so got scary after a few Growths.
I am... concerned, that wild pokemon have given me so much more concern than trainers.

Core team is Rabboot, Gyarados, Charjabug, and Machop. Gyarados is so fucking busted in this game, holy shit, WHY does it have Waterfall and Crunch by 25? Fucker killed a level 37 Bronzor in the Wild Area like it was nothing, and killed Bede so hard I think he retired early. In the future, Gyarados is hella banned in this game, goddamn, but I figure it's fine since it's blind, and it'll probably die to random electric coverage.
I also have a Stunky, Baltoy, Pumpkaboo, Cherubi, Barboach, and Chewtle all fairly decently levelled to rotate around those last two slots, and I just got an Espurr I'm excited for. Stunky is especially depressed, since its entire job, helping with gym 1, was upstaged by Charjabug just doing it by itself. Not sure if this game is easy as fuck, or if Gyarados and Charjabug are just carrying my ass
Dropped a disgusting amount of money on shades, my character looks like a douchebag and I love it.

Also holy fucking shit, what did they do to TMs in this game? Fucking Scary Face? Pin Missile? Nobody can even learn these moves if I wanted to teach them, who had a seizure at the data entry for TMs?

Typically, I go for max encounters in a game, because managing tons of pokemon makes me happy, so will consider things like gifts, static encounters, or grey areas like Grottos independant and fair game, and only start banning pokemon on their own merits or case-by-case (like, in gen 1 and FR/LG, I ban the Magikarp from before Mount Moon, because it makes the next chunk of the game too same-ey if it's always available.
I also have my own Safari Zone Bonanza rule, that basically just says you can catch as many pokemon as you want in one trip to the Safari Zone/equivalent, but can only keep one per area. Just because the Safari Zone in a Nuzlocke otherwise is depressing.
I also tend to have most legendaries as legal (basically, any legendary with a catch rate of 3) on the grounds that they're probably going to shred an entire team to get them, there's a solid chance they'll die leaving you nothing, and they tend to not even be that much better than average anyways.

But do what makes you happy. If you like holding event encounters as an alternative to normal encounters, do that. If you want 'em banned entirely, do that. If you want to ban a completely on par pokemon because it's on all of your teams and you want variety, do that. Hell, if you want deaths to not count until you break level 10, just because grinding level 3 shitmons that die in two hits when you have 3 potions to your name is miserable, go nuts.
If you want an almighty "this is my favorite pokemon, I can always try to catch the first one of it I see", go fukkin nuts, have fun.

I find that the best technical restrictions tend to be the ones you barely notice anyways, since even if they weren't there, you'd still end up following them out of personal preference. I also find that little things that give you a goody later on, like my Safari Zone rules, are a huge morale boost that can motivate you to get through slower parts of the game.

About to get stuck on at Nessa's. Cherubi evolved into Cherrim and got Sunny Day literally a few seconds before I was about to walk in, so it might actually be a lot more useful than I anticipated.
Otherwise, the squad is Cherrim, Pumpkaboo, Charjabug, Gyarados, Machop, and Stunky. Stunky is pretty much fodder, I don't see it being useful anymore after this, maybe niche usage on Bede battles... but I don't know where or when those are, and Gyarados clowned on his pasty ass last time, so I'm not worried. I WAS going to bring Stufful for that purpose... but I sent it to do a job. It be like that sometimes. Stunky had better hope Cherrim carries this one as hard as Charjabug carried the last one, I guess.

Did a lap around the Wild Area, jesus fuck the grass badge didn't open a single fucking wild pokemon, what a useless thing to give you. Got a Leftovers from a berry tree though... so yey.

Now I know this hasn't been me being carried by good pokemon, because Doomslayer is an abject piece of shit. It didn't even learn a usable Grass move by itself, I had to teach it Magical Leaf.

On the one hand, this is why I love Nuzlockes. Nobody, fucking nobody has probably seriously used a Cherrim, I don't hear people talking about how fucking cursed this thing's movepool is, and it just ran a train on this gym.

On the other hand... this piece of shit just ran a train on Nessa's whole career without even trying, I'm still basically on par with the level curve, +1ish, and was sitting on an entire team that was better.
I hadn't set out to do it, but this has turned into a no Dynamax run, I guess, fuck Dynamax, I don't need it.

I hope this game picks up in difficulty, I've yet to lose a pokemon, or even drop below half health since the early game, close calls with Machop, Doomslayer, and a Wobuffet aside.
The gym leader humiliation rave song is pretty cool, though, Sunny Cherrim dances almost perfectly to it.

Doomslayer the Cherrim, Master Chief the Stunky, and Freddy the Pumpkaboo are probably going on vacay for a while. Mr. Fish the Gyarados can probably sodomize the entire fire gym by itself, but Dagon the Barboach and Chad the Machop should hold it down either way.
Complacency may be the only way this game gets hard.

Also what the actual fuck is with the Whirlpool TM I just got for beating this gym, how come all of the bitching about this game I have heard, the TMs being the equivalent of willingly infecting your pokemon with dysentery has never come up?
Magical Leaf, Bulldoze, and Scary Face have been the only good ones; Magical Leaf purely because Cherrim is so fucking incompetent that it doesn't learn its own Grass moves, Bulldoze because Gyarados, and Scary Face because it's the only non damaging move I have that I can slap onto things when Wobuffet are around.

Okay, managed to get through Chuck with relative ease. Crushing rocks seem like such a breeze joke.

It turned out I didn't need to worry too much; open with Gyarados and intimidate, immediately switch out to Slowpoke because fucker dropped a Rock Slide, and then it was dropping a few Curses to tank physical hits while merking the Primeape, healing on occasion because of crit paranoia. The Poliwrath, meanwhile, fell when I swapped back to Gyarados and just dropped Dragon Rages.

Three new pokies, and I also mourn the loss of dear Slam Bradley (because I didn't expect a powerful Thunderbolt IMMEDIATELY, one-shotting my Machop; now my friend's metaphorically beat my ass for letting Slam Bradley die).

And now, I lie parked outside the Safari Zone...

If you've just beaten Chuck, then Pidgeotto/Pidgeot is entering its twilight years and will match poorly and let you down with the rest of the game. It's fine if you're keeping it around as an explicitly less valuable/sac pokemon, but, the poor thing isn't usually very good to begin with, and late gen 2 in particular hates Pidgeot's guts. Misdreavus/Mismagius and Tentacool are both top shelf pokemon that have pretty good matchups against the rest of the game, especially Tentacool, which is a godtier answer to Lance. Even if you don't get the Stone from the Pokethalon rewards, Misdreavus is pretty handy against Will, Koga, and Bruno, if you do evolve it, its special bulk can let it pivot and take hits on Lance.

No matter what you decide, good luck! HG/SS picks up in difficulty towards the tail end, and it's one of the harder Elite 4's in my experience, even if it has Bruno.

Either way, Misdreavus is still good on its own, I used one a few years back without evolving it, just be a bit more careful of taking STAB Psychics from Will if you use it.

I'm anticipating a steamroll again, but not just because this game has been toothless so far, my squad is ludicrously stacked for anti-Fire duties. Speaking of Mr. Fish and assholes, Mr. Fish absolutely gaped Bede's bussy, the poor bastard hasn't even been able to order an attack yet across our battles.
Found a TM for Sand Tomb. I have a theory. The devs for this game looked at competitive pokemon and saw that nobody was ever using these incredibly shitty trapping moves, and must have thought that the reason nobody was using them was availability, and so they created TMs for them. Except they didn't communicate that, and so every single TM for these unusable moves can be taught to almost nobody.
Goddamn this is Gen 1 finding the TM for Water Gun all over again. Except, fucking, the TM for Water Gun was ACTUALLY GOOD, because you could teach it to weird shit like Rattata, who could actually use the water coverage. Water Gun would still be an improvement over Sand Tomb, Whirlpool, and FUCKING SCARY FACE

Did a spin around the Wild Area and my sexy new level 30 limit, got a Duskull, Cutiefly, and Golett. It's occurring to me that this game would work pretty well for a Ghost monotype, Ghosts are everywhere.

Mr. Fish and Chad tag teamed a level 50 Drapion. Risking them was stupid... but I killed it.

I just did a hardcore run of Emerald Cross, basically vanilla but with optional rules. I used phys/special split and no EV-gains, it was pretty fun but I underestimated how much impact no EVs had compared to vanilla and managed to lose my Ludicolo killer to Drake and then wiped to it.

Anyway, I really enjoyed that it had a nuzlocke mode that tracked nuzlocke encounters and deaths for you, partly for the simplicity and partly because I'm not good at avoiding cheating in these runs honestly. Like I did a ground-type monolocke of Platinum and lost 2 mons to random trainer with Horn Drill in 2 turns for example, and I just scummed that shit. Of course the nuzlocke mode doesn't technically stop savestate loading but I found it easier to stick to my honor system with the setting on.

Any other good rom hacks with similar nuzlocke modes out there that aren't ballachingly difficult to nuzlocke without using docs or similar? I'm not looking for that pain.

In hotel avoiding my family decided to start a Firered double battle, nearly 900 pokemon randomized nuzlocke.
First female(or null gender) encountered on route once the parcel has been delivered is the only catchabke mon for that zone.
I can take legendaries so long as I fit them in a premier ball.
Any fainted mon is dead and must be shoved in the back of the pc never to be used.
No battle items, no healing items out of battle (only npc heals), no exp share, no going over the next gyms leaders/e4 highest level pokemon.
Enemy teams aren't random, only changes are "Nigger" keeps his starter and since that Garde I might swap his alakzam to something better and I morphed a random fisherman into a planet destoying god.
Items are as randomized as possible, and all pokemon are vanilla to their Gen 8 varieties. Legendaries only over legendaries, and similar strength on for wild pokemon.
I might make a nice chart, or post this from my computer, we'll see by Misties gym.
----Run----
Eve was my starter, she barely crawled away from the rival battle, fucking ralts doesn't start with confusion. Parcel delivered, got the useless dyna-band as it is disabled (and the probably useless rings). Dree was my first catch on my way to the catching tutorial, I got a Vulpix named her something cute she died because I wasn't paying attention while grinding. Me and my three pokemon were shown how to catch legendaries with illegal balls by an old man. Found Privy D after killing some males and hoping a female anything else showed up. B Pri in the forest Privy D and B Pri were puns on how I meant to use them as pivots to move my more important mons around after easily clearing Brock (it didn't go well). Dree's "Bubble" hit both enemies in doubles, when combined with her nice Sp. A we shredded Viridian, Eve pounded non-cacoon pokemon to mid and then the board was sweeped. Found a bright powder and magnet on my way out, felt pretty invisible (1/2).

Spent only a second grinding before, forgeting that Onix is lvl 14, and not lvl 12 so I walk up to the shirtless buff guy underleveled. Lvl 11 Eve gets pulled out immediately (not even sure why I had her out) B. Pri gets tombed, as expected Bubble triggers sturdy and puts Onix in the red I thought it was sturdy so I switched in the fast Eve. Dree is slow so the next screen wipe would come out only infront of Geodude, but it's fine Eve goes first and Onix will die *squeak noise* Onix lives tomes Dree, Privy D. shows up set her to takle the 1 health Geodude. This time pound thankfully moved the five pixels of the screen. Then my sacrificial pawn took a piece herself.

Privy D. Died instantly on the next rounte and due to how it works falling down to one mon disqualified me. However today I stopped throwing. Amazingly having a nu-starter turn Nigger into a nu-rival, he'll have to censor his name. I got Popplio he got a randomly spawned Charmander, pissed on his flames and sprited off to get Dia a wynot on the forst route, a crits stole my nidoran tragically.
Dia would die to a diffrent diglet with their trap ability and Dia lacking offensive moves, (why does diglet know scratch) I got excited to see struggle, but splash had 4/40 pp left when she fell. I then got a diffrent Dig-let Flump a portmanteau of FUCK and lump. Found Glay who knew struggle bug which is also hits all enemy pokemon apparently I wonder just how many early game moves did this. Unfortunately Priea didn't/doesn't learn bubble, so I could full nuke. With reflect from the evolved Glay along with some assistance for her high Sp. A Priea made quick work of Brock not to mention I didn't stumble in fresh out the forest.

Beat up Fire guy, he's actually a pretty cool dude. Wish I remembered his name.
Didn't know how to handle the catching challenge, so I just caught all three, then let two of them get detained for not having a license. Kept Menorah the Litwick because Vulpix is ass, and I didn't like the cut of the bug's jib. Litwick actually almost killed Baltoy, got him down to 3 HP on a crit Hex. I knew it was risky, but Baltoy was the only pokemon I had with a move I was confident wouldn't kill it.
Fire Man himself was... actually a bit harder than the other two. Though, probably by my own doing, rather than anything he did.
Chad got burned during the capture portion... but she has Guts, so I decided fuck the Mr. Fish sweep plan, Chad needs to flex. Chad beat the shit out of his first two... but couldn't beat the shit out of the giant bug trying to get into her anus. Hit it for about 1/4 on a Bulldoze, Swapped out to Dagon and then Leotellogelo to eat dynamax turns, then killed it with Warslug. First Dynamax pokemon I haven't killed in one hit through the Dynamax. A cause for celebration! The game didn't even force feed me the next gym's type, so maybe it'll actually be interesting.

Hop and Bede went to fuck in the woods, Marnie team is currently splattered across the hotel's floors and walls, and I snagged BrickOldlama the Snover, and Turd Burglar the Thievul. I have a vibe like OldLama might be useful later. I have a vibe like Turd Burglar is a piece of shit that is good for nothing. We shall see. Might have a few more Wild Area encounters to get.

Current planned squad for whoever this next gym is, is Mr. Fish, Chad, Thursday the Baltoy, Freddy the Pumpkaboo, Aster the Espurr, and GetterLagann the Golurk.

I have interest in preparing Sturm the Pawniard, Santana the Cutiefly, and Warslug the Gastrodon for future battles.
Master Chief the Stunky, Doomslayer the Cherrim, and Dagon the Whiscash are basically retired at this point.

No deaths.

As for HG and my Safari Zone adventure, well, I didn't know about the Safe Haven clause until now (in first FR run, each Safari Zone sector was labeled, so I captured one from each region), so I'm delighted I snagged the best of the best of what I wanted!

From what I've read/been told about, it's basically your 'anything goes/free space' part, where areas like the Safari Zones and, I'm going to assume the Wild Area in Sw and Sh, allow the runner one of three differing guidelines in catching Pokemon.

1) Only catch the first Pokemon you see total, like in any other area.
2) Only catch the first Pokemon in each sector of the area.
3) Go ham.

I am currently having a stroke over the TM shop. The weather moves are fine, Brine is shit but okay. Fire Spin. Fucking Fire Spin.

I bought an Ice Beam TR from some dude, it'll probably be handy later.
Almost fucking died to the dude in the Cafe, double battle with nearly level 40 Pokemon, 'kay. Only got through deathless because the AI tried to pretend Gyarados didn't exist.

I've been in this fucking city for five minutes and it's already giving me tetanus.

Our first casualty!

I poked ahead and got a Hatterem named Fedora. I figured a Psychic/Fairy would be a fantastic inclusion to the gym.
Uh, turns out Hatterem isn't actually Psychic/Fairy yet! Poor thing got instantly filleted by Pangoro. Got Chad a clean switch in, though, but... 100% complacency and my fault. Ah well, it was Adamant, so no real loss.

Actually was a bit on the ropes, I overcommitted to Psychic with Fedora, Aster, and Thursday, plus Pumpkaboo, so got worn down by the Dark type coverage. Poor planning on my part, and I should have expected as much. Her Machamp went down to an absolutely degenerate pivot cycle between Gyarados, Meowstic, and Pumpkabo, with Gyarados' Intimidate and Meowstic's Reflect lowering Machamp's damage output enough for Pumpkabo to get Leech Seed off.
Meowstic was able to stall Machamp to death with Fake Out, Reflect, and swaps to Gyarados.

Played like shit, but actually had to play the game to get out. Good mix.
I hope this trend continues. This one didn't make me want to chew my own ear off. Even got an almost okay TM in Revenge. Maybe someone can actually fucking learn it.

Aster earned the fuck out of a Soda Pop today. He's a bit frail, I'm gonna be so sad when he dies to something predictable. But, Reflect and Light Screen are hot commodities.

Abusing Magikyle's ridiculous Sp. def stat I set up 3 Dragon Dances and swept completely. Thanks to Shell Bell he went from having 58hp left to basically back at full! Getting two crits back-to-back seems to be a Sinnoh special, I feel. But man, what a rush sweeping Cynthia! A weird way to end it, but Lucian left me a salty bitch, I guess.

Really saddened by the deaths of my Grasscat and Psychicduck. The crit from Bronzong hurt, but knowing that I had to 'sack' someone for my 'heals allowed but only if the mon you're healing isn't in battle' rule was worse. Especially since that fucker Alakazam has killed a mon in all 3 of my sinnoh runs now. I had to debate between both my ducks and settled on Dennis, because specs Garret could've come clutch against Cynthia.

If you're in doubt, FRLG are readily available as roms, are well set up in terms of general pokemon availability and viability, everyone knows what to expect, and the difficulty curve is gentle and low, with brief spikes to create stories.

Play with whatever rules you feel comfortable with, and just enjoy the moment to moment decicions you make.

The flowcharting is usually done around bigger encounters, to the point that if enough things go wrong, a reset or suicide by next roadblock to reroll is done, which makes you wonder why not just assume some encounters go as planned and not faff about with resets to begin with, which is the crux of why ludicrous overplanning is a pretty shitty way to approach Nuzlocks in the first place.

Nuzlockes are, at their core, about variety and adaptation. Flowcharts and over planning are just rerolling encounters with extra steps. Why bother resetting the entire game, when you're just going to keep resetting until you get Volt Absorb Lanturn, for example?
At the end of the day, do what makes you happy, I guess, but if you're at that point playing Nuzlockes, there are many other games out there that can give you what you're actually looking for. Unless you're doing it for endless youtube clicks.

Small update.
Made it through the woods to Mushroom Land after Bede committed professional suicide.
I'm like, 90% sure the next gym leader is that Fairy lady... which isn't exactly something I have a lot of answers for. I'm in the middle of bushwhacking a bunch of super high level Wild Area mons for sick gains. Killed a couple raid pokemon for some nice big bags of EXP Candy and TRs. Immediately regret my decicion, those TRs are too much power for any one man to control. Scald, Liquidation, Muddy Water (what the actual fuck is with the Water), Bulk Up, and Low Kick. But, we'll see. Also bought Sludge Wave.... but I forgot not much actually learns Sludge Wave. Shit. Gastrodon does though... so welcome aboard!
I brought Master Chief the Stunky out of retirement, since he's literally my only Poison type, and Sturm the Pawniard has joined the squad to get exp.
Then I remembered Pawniard has Unova exp curve syndrome and doesn't evolve until like, 50 fucking something. Still raising it, I feel good about him, but he's not helping any time soon. Pumpkaboo isn't evolving yet either, I'll probably look that up to make sure it's not a "trade while holding a Fire Stone while the 3DS is upside down on Halloween" bullshit condition. Chad's home sick with Covid for this gym, and I just got Eviolite, so I'l still probably use Pumpkaboo.

I COULD grind up Cinderace... but that sounds like it'll take forever. I dunno, maybe.

God it's gonna be awkward if the gymeader of mushroom town isn't actually the Fairy one.

Oh, I got some more TMs that don't make me want to kill myself, in U-Turn, Hex, and Rest (Chesto Resto, baby!).

I have a weak plan of just letting Mr. Fish run a Dragon Dance train on the gym, but a Plan B besides hurl pokemon into the meat grinder would be nice. Warslug the Gastrodon and Master Chief the Stunky are a pretty shitty plan B. But, they may be the only plan I've got. Aster and Freddy hax might be my only hope.
Aster's gonna fucking die. I feel it.

This is way harder than I thought it would be.
So, I just beat Grant in this challenge but not without difficulty. I had to scummily use almost all of the X Items I had bought in the very first town and nearly almost died every time I got crit. Grant's gym was ice themed and my team could have handled it if it weren't for Snover. Snover had Petal Dance and it was doing massive damage to all my mons.
I made a plan to use Pancham to sweep, but then I realized that if Grant had a Frosslass I would be fucked so I quickly pivoted to Gyarados. Despite being the lowest level, Gyarados had the best stats (even with a -Atk nature.) I used enough X SpDefs that Snover started using his physical move Smelling Salts which did more damage than Petal Dance when we're at +3 but it wouldn't kill with a critical. Gyarados got to +4 Attack and +2 Speed and then I just started to blast through his mons. Even with that massive attack boost, it wasn't enough to one shot anything with Bite, so I tried to use Bounce when I could.
Grant's team was all level 30s.
The first gym was definitely much easier despite outnumbering my team, since it was simply fire types and my Elekid (RIP) dealt with them easily.
This is a very fun challenge that I've sort of come up with and it helps sort of replicate the feeling of playing a new game with the similar strength modifiers. Growth is scaled and makes sense, compared to most random playthroughs where if you get a legendary you just sweep with that or if your opponent has a legendary you're just fucked. It's a lot of fun and I'd recommend you guys to try out my settings because it genuinely exercises your ability to think and solve Pokemon battles while still not being ridiculously hard for no reason like Kaizo and not being a pushover like regular Nuzlocke for veteran players.

JarJarBinks the Bronzor and then Bronzong has appeared! With the help of Lord Binks, I feel much more confident. I might swap put Aster for Thursday... but Aster is only level 35, and I've put this off long enough. JarJar and Freddy have Light Screen, that's good enough

Freddy is ready to make the ultimate sacrifice if needed. Poor little guy has been depressed ever since he learned he'll never evolve. He killed a level 50 Flygon by himself, but that wasn't enough to restore his self worth.

Not too exciting. That fukkin Weezing poisoned Mr. Fish with Sludge turn 1, of course, so he couldn't just shred her entire team. Still, he butchered Weezing and... whatever it was that came next. I honestly forget. Aromatise, maybe?

Mawile came in after, and that was Mr. Fish's time to bail. Master Chief came in, busted out the heavy flamer, and purged Mawile's heresy. Hit the cakefucker with a Toxic on the way out, and then JarJarBinks, true to his name, refused to die until everyone left the theater. I probably could have done it without him... but goddamn was I glad to have him. Meesa bell now indeed.

I got almost all the questions right, half of them were guesses, except I guess I fucked up on the age one.

JarJar might come in handy for Raihan, but I I'm spoiled for choices for, I think Rock guy, and I THINK there's a Dark guy... so JarJar is probably going back to Naboo for a while. Chad got over his Coronavirus, and Freddy is probably going to a facility to treat that depression. And Master Chief is, once again, retired. For real this time. Probably. He's currently my best Fire type, Rabboot is just eternally trapped in the rice fields, so...

Opal was pretty cool. Her, along with Fire guy are okay in my book, and shouldn't come to the League Finals in a week.

Fedora is still alone in the yet-to-be mass grave.
I think Hop and Bede are getting engaged offscreen, far as fuck away from me, so that's good. I imagine one of them is going to come annoy me soon, though. Marnie just said something to me and gave me her trading card, and I get the vibe these asshats hunt in pairs.
Actually, I don't think I've ever updated my trading card. It doesn't even have my slick ass shades, just me shitting my pants with 0 badges, no shades, and only a Gyarados in common with my current team.

I like it better that way. Fuck my fans.

Another casualty! Dagon the Wiscash was laid low by, I can't believe I'm fucking saying this, Hop. He took a Flame Lash, lowering his defense, Heatmor survived Dagon's Aqua Tail, then finished him off with a crit Slash.
Dagon is the first casualty that actually means anything. He was a good fish, even if he was basically redundant next to Warslug. He will be missed. At least he didn't take any TRs with him.

Jackass caught me off guard. I thought surely after Bede got abducted by Opal, I was in the clear. Oh well.
Master Chief finished the fight, one last time, for reals this time, until the sequel inevitably wakes him up again. I had not intended his name to be fitting for how many times he finishes the fight, then gets sent out again.

Fortunately, like I said, I'm spoiled for choices when it comes to anti-rock duty, and GetterLagann the Golett is ready to fire up some Heats and penetrate some AT fields. I... just hope the Rock guy is actually next. Getter Rays don't do jack shit to Dark types, so I'm told. Chad's probably got it either way. I hope GetterLagann evolves, soon, 'cuz right now the only thing it has in common with either of its namesakes is running out of budget near the end.

I started off with Paralyzed Myoko for it's Guts boost. I did not expect Myoko to land 1 hit and then get Paralyzed 5. fucking. turns. in. a. row. After that her accuracy was so low it wouldn't matter if she broke through, so I sent out Kadamatsu to finish it with Poison Sting. Not bad for a shitty bug.

I sent out Hokota on a Gust. then I proceed to miss Hypnosis 3 times, so I send in Shima. A Thunder Shock did embarrassingy little, but luckily Falkner was so focused on roosting that it barely attacked me, so a crit TS managed to put the battle in my favor. Static activated at exactly the right time too, because at this point
both pokémon on the field took one more hit to go down, but due to Shima now outspeeding I took home the Zephyr badge!

Wattson was a push-over thanks to Geodude. Archie's Golbat was a pain because my Mightyena hit itself in confusion three times in a row and when I switched Graveler in Golbat landed a crit with bite. Torkoal was able to take out the Golbat with no problems though, and Grovyle handled his Sharpedo.
Just like in my Ruby run I sacrificed a Whismur to take an overheat from Flannery's Torkoal so I could deal with it more easily. I used my Torkoal for the mirror match and mine came out on top.
Having two Pokemon with protect should make Norman pretty easy.

Seviper is surprisingly versatile and solid.

It gets Earthquake and Flamethrower, just off the top of my head, and it's one of the more workable poison types.
It's damn near the definition of a workhorse pokemon for Nuzlockes. It's not at all fancy, it probably won't win anything for free, but it's good enough for most purposes.

Pregym update.

Definitely the Rock guy next, I am absolutely not worried. Three new interesting pokemon. Crazy Frog the Seismitoad, who only does dubstep remixes of dated music from yesteryear, like Popcorn, the Safety Dance, and I'm Blue, is an immediate standout, I think it's saying something about my team that I'm probably NOT bringing it to the Rock Gym, though. Maybe. GetterLagann still hasn't evolved, and goddamn is it frail, so I probably won't bring it if it doesn't evolve in a level or two. Crazy Frog might come in handy later either way.
Next, I found a Rufflet passed out in a dumpster full of 4th of July decorations and tequila on Route 8. I tried to ask what its name was, and she just started screaming Freedom. So Freedom is going to sleep that off, she might actually come in handy later, as besides Mr. Fish, I've managed to avoid all birds. Plus it'd be funny as fuck to teach these limey bastards some fukkin liberty and justice for all.
Then I got a little icy burrito bug in Snom, the Bugrito. I know there's both a Dark and a Dragon gym coming up. This was technically also on route 8, but the name changed, so I'm taking it.

Chad is ascending to Pillar Man status, and is as prepared as she can be to clean sweep the next two gyms. I choose the Ogre Kingdoms remix of the Pillar Men theme for her posing. Overconfidence is a delicious ingredient for Nuzlockes, I hope the bloodbath commences soon.

As a side note, I can almost consistently make Milcry grade curry now. It turns out the secret to good curry is abandoning rythym and control, and just mashing buttons and sticks like it's Mario Party 1.
Watching JarJarBinks smash a curry-slathered burger into its face is pretty distressing, though.
Also, Chad keeps bringing me sausages whenever she comes back from the rice fields. It was funny at first, but she's so consistent that I'm getting concerned. I hope she's just hungry for brotein.

Gordie was a return to the half asleep standard the first two gym leaders set. Chad soloed his ass with over half her health left, oneshotted the dynamax pokemon, and spent turns literally flexing on his team far beyond what was necessary. I am pleased that Hop apparently somehow lost to this absolutely free win, bastard deserves it for Dagon.
GetterLagann evolved, but everyone else wound up being pointless anyways. GetterLagann is most likely not going to do anything else the entire run. After not doing anything to get here.

It's fucking depressing that I'm getting a TM often given out as the first TM a player receives, period, at the sixth badge, and it's probably one of the best TMs I own. Besides Brick Break, Brick Break is good.

Spent all of my money on shitty expensive drip to achieve tool levels that shouldn't be possible. I need my sponsor stickers though.

I think Sonia wants to explain how everything is exactly as it seems at a local deli.
I like to believe I'm just refusing to tell her about the dog I saw in the alley behind my house that looks exactly like the one the shitty statue was of, just to watch her seven brain cells spin into the mud.
I think the Dark guy is next. I fully anticipate falling asleep at the wheel and letting Chad teabag that one, too. I think Sturm might evolve in time for it, so maybe I'll bring him. I think Freedom is still going to be hungover and cuddling with the toilet, so probably not her.

Maybe Whambulance the Charjabug might be a fun run back? I think it just evolves from a Thunderstone in this game, 'cuz Gamefreak got tired of including electromagnetically active areas in every region.
I wonder how they handled Crabominable?

I lead with Chita. One Razor Leaf does 49% on Clefairy who Metronomes into POWDER SNOW. Naturally. Another Razor Leaf leaves Clef on 5%. It uses Mimic. On the heal Chita uses Razor Leaf again. Repeat of turn one, but uses Double Slap which does fuck all. Chita uses Synthesis and Clef metronomes into POISON STING poisoning Chita. Chita kills with Razor Leaf.

I switch into Ono and try Para-flinching but Milk Drink followed by Attract undoes it. I switch into Hotoka and set up another Reflect. Then switch back into Ono.

Ono uses Screech twice while Miltank uses Milk Drink and follows by using Attract. I switch into Miyako and back into Ono to undo that. A crit Headbutt from Ono leaves Miltank on 1hp. Whitney uses another Super Potion though. 2 more Headbutts finish the fat cow.

Since I'm playing on a physical copy and find Johto's evolve stone/item distribution complete fuckery, I decided that from Goldenrod on (thats where you can get the stones/metal coat/etc. anyway) I can trade an early evolution item. I was thinking one per badge. And one per day. I used one to evolve Onix (I traded over Metal Coat from my Platinum copy) I just pretend I walked in the Marathon.

I downloaded the randomizer from here, it's really simple and easy to set up. Just need a decrypted 3ds rom. I play on my 3ds since it's got homebrew but you can also just play on Citra. Download the latest version 4.5.0 because I think that's the only one that has the type theme setting for Gyms/E4

I dug the little Double Dragon-esque sidescrolling beat'em up vibe from the challenge. Also dig how few shits anyone gave here. This place is my new home.

Piers himself was another eyes closed cakewalk. Chad completely spanked him. Actually, I think someone over at game Freak messed up, because I think his guys were actually LOWER FUCKING LEVELLED than Rock guy, which meant I overlevelled the fuck out of him. Goddammit. I was getting excited after Fire, Fighting, and Fairy were actually warm fights. Not like this. Not to a faulty level curve.

Caught some pokemon, I don't even give a shit no more, Machoke is making this game her bitch.
I think Dragon Guy is next, I'm weakly hoping he has some teeth, not optimistic, god I desperately hope he fucking kills something to wake me up.

Sturm and Freedom are still unevolved. Brought 'em to the gym anyways, along with super underlevelled Whambulance the Vikavolt, I'm literally grinding on Gym Leaders now.

I imagine I'm going with the Mr. Fish, Chad, and Warslug dream team for Dragon Guy, with Sturm, Thursday, and last slot wild. I taught Thursday Ice Beam, so this should be a slaughter. Maybe give Mr. Fish Ice Fang temporarily over Waterfall. Don't have any Fairy types worth noting, but I'm not concerned.

Progress: Defeated the Celadon Rocket Base, defeated Erika, sent the Mother Marowak's soul back down to Hell where it belongs, and got the Poke Flute at the ready!

Janked a capture attempt by critting a Gastly in the Pokemon Tower, and the birds had a field day in Erika's gym. I misclicked teaching Aerial Ace to Parasect, accidentally replacing Bullet Seed with it--might contemplate adding Giga Drain as I go down that road.

Hopefully, I can trigger access to Saffron, and finally get my Geodude out of daycare, so that the Wondrous Eight can continue their journey.

Somewhat more interesting than what came before. He tipped his hand too soon with the challenge, though, so by the time the actual battle with him started, I'd given JarJarBinks screens, Mr. Fish (and Sturm the Bisharp, wtf) Rain Dance, and slapped together some sort of hideous swamp monster rain and muck team. My trainer card picture was taken with me about to shit my pants, and I lived up to that by drowning everything in a slick, thick brown mess. Yousa mess with the Gungans, yoosa gonna have a big bad time!

Raihan's Flygon lead with a Thunderpunch though. I braced for the worst... but Mr. Fish tanked that shit with over half his HP left. Then Reflect went up.
I don't know if Mr. Fish is just that much of a badass, Flygon is that fucking terrible, or somewhere in between.

I recall some shit happens with the Chairman sending unsolicited pictures of his Copperajah to teenagers and getting Weinstein'd, Cancelled, and deported back to Pakistan or wherever, I ain't scurred, this game appears to have forgotten that level scaling is a thing, as I'm pretty sure Raihan's team was the same fucking level as Rock guy, too. Not gonna lie, these last three badges have felt super shitty, the game is ending on a wet fart. Hopefully beating Leon's ass red gets better.
I suspect Mr. Fish might just sweep his ass, though. Like, goddamn dude, chill.

No deaths, besides Raihan's dignity. I never had any, so I'm scott free.

The main thing you want and need for Clay is switch ins to Excadril, or else low-quality pokemon you're willing to sac for a clean switch. Excadril is the run killer, so you want a few team slots dedicated to it.

Pokemon to pivot through are also fine. Say, Altaria can (out of my ass) survive 2 or 3 hits, but can't do shit if it takes a hit on the way in. If you switch Lairon in on some other move, bait the Ground move, you get a clean switch to Altaria, if that makes sense.

If it has Sturdy, Lairon is a fantastic pivot, since it's guaranteed to survive one hit no matter what. Slugma might also be a top quality sac, since if it has Flame Body, if you can switch it into a contact move, you have a 3p% chance of neutering Excadrill on the spot.

Otherwise, try not to panic against Excadrill, and recognize if someone needs to die against it. Exadrill usually ends runs because people panic and keep switching pokemon out to save them, then it just cleans house when there's nothing left to take a hit. Bringing lower value pokemon you aren't afraid to lose is a good strategy for it, or pokemon like it, that threaten to outspeed and 2hko your entire team.

Besides that, Cofagrigus might be a standout, since it's tanky enough to probably take a ton of hits, and possibly get off Will o Wisp (Does it/you have access to that? I forget).

Only other thing I'll mention is that Beartic should probably be used early in the fight, because Excadril will probably just kill it. Ludicolo seems like the best answer you have to Excadrill on paper, since it resists both Stabs

They were selling performance enhancing drugs, so I pumped Freedom full of steroids. That fucking bird looks about ready to either eat a bar stool or cook meth, so I'm confident it'll do fine in the upcoming semifinals. Once it fucking evolves. Goddamn Unovan pokemon evolving in their 50's.

I've mostly decided on my final champion team, assuming nothing tragic happens in the lead up. Mr. Fish, Warslug, Chad, and Thursday have been a merry little band that have pretty much had an answer for everything. Thursday hasn't gotten as much time to shine in my reports as the rest, but the thing has put in tons of work against random trainers, and has become my steadfast "Plan B" for most occasions. Freedom fills in a fairly necessary gap the rest don't, and beats the hell out of Master Chief for doing it. JarJarBinks is a hard one. A Reflect and Light Screen bot is pretty damn nice, it has been splattering Faeries for a while now, and has a very open move slot that I can do whatever I want with. I only know half of Leon's team, I know he has Aegislash, Intelleon, and Charizard... and JarJar does fuck all to them, and isn't Heatproof. I'm gambling pretty heavily on what the other half is if I take him. That said, I can very easily see screens getting a key move in. More thinking. Maybe the Wild Area will poop out my last team member. There's two areas I haven't hit yet, and I know one of them had a Kommo-O before, when I couldn't even catch the basic pokemon there. Kommo-O itself does jack shit for me... but maybe something else on that level could help. I'll check tomorrow.

For the semis, I think Sturm will probably put in some work, I'm pretty sure he absolutely shreds Marnie, Hop, and Bede, and I imagine at least two of them are coming for my ass. Chad, Mr. Fish, and Warslug have collectively soloed approximately 6 out of 8 gyms, so I could give a shit less about the Leaders now.

I forget if you get U-Turn in that game, you might also be able to use that to get a clean switch in on something.

Swift Swim Kingdra actually has a legitimate shot of just sweeping the gym outright. I don't know how essential it is to future plans, but just gunning for the sweep, consequences be damned, and cleaning up whatever is left with Ludicolo might actually work, brain off mode.
My panic instincts say double check that he doesn't have something that might get up Sand anyways. I don't remember his team besides Excadrill, honestly, I have something like a fever dream of him having a Hippowdon, but that couldn't be right in base BW. Maybe I'm thinking of a romhack or something.

Yawn is a decent backup plan, but just have a plan to eat that next turn. Cofagrigus is the ironclad backup plan in my mind, especially since the exact same shit should work for Iris/Drayden's Haxorus.

Knowing that you have Swift Swim, I THINK you should be fine, especially with Ludicolo and Yawn Umbreon as backup plans. Just remember to not panic if Excadrill seems like it's going to kill everything, and make an aggressive sac to finish it off if you have to, that's the main thing.

Yeah Kingdra would be nice endgame but not essential, Hippowdon is lead and pretty sure Slowking is slower, but Altaria can help there.

And yeah Blaze Black, literally my first Drayano hack and the only one unbeaten. BB2 and SG were great, Renegade is just bonkers and haven't played redux BB2 yet.

Gonna save Cofag for late game, that mummy too good for wrecking teams hopefully, Umbreon will do the job, or not.

Alright, in that case, grain of salt to most of what I said prior, but the basic advice for Excadrill remains intact. Excadrill is an absolute motherfucker, recognize when you need to make a decicive sac to kill it, don't give it more free turns to attack than you have to, because it is more than happy to blend teams into paste. Obviously don't sac if you don't have to, but losing via resource and switch in depletion is the main concern. Expect your Rain to be disrupted, either by something surviving to set it up, or him just keeping Hippowdon in the back, so keep Slowking healthy enough to come in again, consider pivoting it into resisted hits instead of cold switching to it if that happens early enough that you might need it a third time. It's also probably the most important pokemon to keep as a survivor anyways, but I doubt I need to tell you that.

I don't know if you have access to Knock Off or Trick or something, but Marrowak turns into an absolutely anemic presence if it loses the club, and you could use it to gain some momentum, secure a switch, maybe even top off Ludicolo or Foongus if you bring it, ect. Respect its power if it still has it.

Agree with the Cofagrigus decision, especially since Clay tends to be a bloodbath, Cofagrigus is better off preserved, especially since you have a solid plan with backups as is.

Welp another stroll through Clay, overprepared to hell.

Slowking was slower so rain was up, Beartic took the resisted crunch and took out Krook, Umbreon put his Steelix to sleep and from there Ludicolo cleaned up with Scald and a gem Energy Ball for Seis when it tried to bait Scald into its water absorb.

Didn't even need Kingdra or Altaria, easier than Elesa, couldn't use rain there, man this games difficulty is weird, super tough for first 3 gyms then easy as for Elesa and Clay, but that is probably just the way it is with the encounters nearby.

I did win, but I lost most of my pokemon, however their names are now forever written in the "Hall of Fame".
Plusle and Medicham destroyed the mobs and absolutely mogged Nascour. I put an EXP Share on Plusle so it was Level 62 when I reached Evice.
Evice's Slaking and Salamence were horrifying, but due to having protect I could focus on Salamence on its own, it still managed to sweep Plusle and Medicham before falling to 2 Psychics from Espeon. Scizor walled me hard, Reflect lessened his damage but he took Espeon down, thankfully his other mons fell very fast to Hercross' Brick Break and Megahorn. It took a few turns but thankfully Scizor felt it necessary to boost its attack after an intimidate giving me an extra turn, to attack Stantler's Iron Tail softened his Defence and next turn before he could hit me Brick Break and Take Down managed to whittle him down.

Next up is Gale of Darkness, the final generation 3 game!!

Breezed through the rest of the Fairy gym though I forgot her first pokemon is a steel type so Seviper start was awkward. Switch into Talonflame was easy enough then Viper could wash the rest. Caught a Liepard and named it GrayFox but I don't plan on using it as it looks like a glass canon (was really hoping for Pawniard).
Went down into the Lost Hotel and caught a neat Klefki that I think is better than my Tentacruel due to it's good typing so into the box it goes.
Caught a Sneasel on the Snowy Route 17 but it turns out it can't even evolve in this game until post game and it doesn't seem much better than Klefki which sucks cause it's cool.

I lead with Rumoi who makes short work of both Gastly and Zubat. Quilava comes next and it uses SmokeScreen. Major props for Miyako for hitting through 3 Smokescreens (Chita and Ono keep missing 95% and 80% accuracy moves).

Magnemite is next and that thing does scare me since I can't really hit it that hard and it has Sonic Boom. Luckily for me the AI kept going for SuperSonic, so Rumoi could hypnotize it and whittle it down with Confusions!

is next. I sent out Hokota on a Shadow Ball. It tries to Hypnotize my owl, it misses (wouldn't work anyway) and Hokota sets up Reflect against Sucker Punches (almost got KO'd twice when fighting gym trainers due to crits) . A few confusions later and Morty heals Gengar. Hokota puts Gengar to sleep on the heal and sweeps Gengar and the last Haunter, who helped by cutting half his HP.

It's kind of sad how much an Insomnia mon and a single Normal Type fuck over Morty this hard.

I chewed through Marnie and Hop like they were nothing, Freedom finally evolved (also, Freedom has been a boy this whole time, I feel stupid), and with all the steroids, that bird is buff as FUCK. Then Chairman Rose took Leon to a business meeting, and Hop dragged me into committing professional suicide by invading a central government office. He insisted on using his shitty sheep, and only his shitty sheep for fighting Steel types. After resisting arrest by dudebros, that lady that sniffs Chairman Rose's farts picked a fight with me. Mr. Fish swept her by himself

Then Bede crashed the finals, where we had our first loss. Freedom swept his team like nothing, but then got too patriotic and missed a Steel Wing on Hatterene. He survived due to the Parriotic Assault Vest he was wearing, but when I switched Master Chief in, it crit him. Killed it after, but Master Chief won't be finishing this fight

Next, to the Finals. Chad swept Nessa, but then Dreadnaw somehow outsped her, and knocked her down low. I brought in Mr. Fish for the intimidate, then pivoted into Sturm to take the Rock move... except Nessa, in a fleeting moment of either brilliance or retardation, I'm not sure, used a Water move, and crit Sturm, killing him.
I don't even.

Freedom and Thursday swept Bea, and Warslug solo'd Raihan, but these have been rough losses, especially since the game has still forgotten what level scaling is, and I'm 10 to 15 levels above these asshats.

Chairman Asshat has interrupted the challenge to stop the world from ending in 1000 years, by ending it today, and dragged me to the woods, found the guy from the boxart, and armed with a rusty pigsticker, I guess we're going to go commit treason.
Hop has undergone a radical character shift into becoming a Galarian terrorist ever since he lost to the fucking Rock gym, and I'm now an international criminal, too.

I just wanted to make a gazillion dollars on sponsorships and blow it all on drugs and drip, bros

Tate and Liza were too easy. Only having two Pokemon as the 7th gym leaders is just pathetic. Archie didn't give me any problems this time which was nice. Luckily, Wallace's Seaking didn't even try using horn drill this time, but I did almost lose Sceptile to an ice beam from his Milotic.
I tested my team's hidden power types to see if they have anything good for the E4. Most of them suck, but Sceptile's is ice, so that's pretty great.

I lead with JarJar, he lead with Aegislash. I figured I'd get Reflect up then get out, but Aegislash gave me both for free by spamming King's Shield. Then let me switch to Mr. Fish. Then let Mr. Fish get Dragon Dance for free. I killed it, and he sent in Dragapult.
I gambled on keeping my sweep alive, and killing it with Crunch. That was an unfortunate decision, it outspeed and oneshotted Mr. Fish with Thunderbolt. Brutal.
Warslug came in, burned it with Scald, and I quickly learned it couldn't deal damage if I swapped between Warslug and Freedom. So, I did that, ending on around 3/4 health on Warslug.
Haxorus came in next, I gambled for a Scald Burn, but didn't get it, Haxorus nearly kills Warslug with Outrage. Brought out JarJar, who set up Reflect, and slowly whittled it down with Rock Tomb. I was prepared to sac JarJar to get up another Reflect, but Haxorus killed itself due to confusion, leaving Bronzong on 17 hp.
Next up was Intelleon, I switched to Warslug, barely tanked two Dark Pulses to get Recover off, then burnt it. Stalled out and ended on nearly full health.
Mr. Rime came next. My gut told me to preserve Warslug, and Bronzong was a sac to eat a Charizard turn, so I switched to Freedom. Freedom took a Freeze Dry, smacked it with Rock Tomb, then died. I sent out Thursday to finish it... but Mr. Rime survived on a sliver, and killed it with a crit Freeze Dry.
I had nothing else fast, so sent in Chad, who tanked a Psychic and finished it off.

Zard came in, finished off Chad. I fed it JarJar, and sent in Warslug. If Waralug could live one turn, it would probably stall out Charizard.
Except then Charizard used the Dynamax Grass attack and oneshotted it. GG.
It sucks, I lost entirely because I got greedy with Mr. Fish. If I'd just swapped out to literally anyone else, Mr. Fish could have outsped and killed Mr. Rime, saved Thursday and Chad, and probably beaten Zard, too. Oh well.
Leon's tough, he has good coverage and switch ins.

Overall, I liked it more than I thought I would, the badge 3, 4, and 5 split is really fun. The early game is sure early game, and the late badges were depressing, but the very end picked up nicely.
I still want to shoot whoever came up with the TMs for this game. It's one thing to fill the list with shitty moves, but it defeats the point of TMs entirely if nothing can even fucking learn them, besides pokemon that learn the moves anyways. Half the TMs I got, I couldn't have used even if I wanted to. Meanwhile, the handful of oldschool TMs and TRs I got were so splashable it made it even more painful to see completely unusable TMs.
The writing and characters made me want to chew my own ear off the entire time, though, good god.

Probably won't try it again, but I may get closure on Leon later, since literally one decicion is between what I did and beating him.

I've had a Clover nuzlocke I burnt out on when I hit the Grindhaus training montage, maybe I'll finish that. I imagine I'll have pretty severe detachment from my pokemon at this point, though.
My phone's usb port has been degrading, so I can't get any more roms than I currently have on it unless I find a way around that, maybe I have a micro USB card and converter laying around or something. Maybe I can sneak Fire Red or Emerald onto it through something, or just download one of 'em directly on my phone. I'll figure something out. Playing gen 4 or 5 sounds fun, but not without speedup.

I think I might have Renegade Platinum or Blaze Black on my tablet, that's also a possibility. I don't like playing on it as much... but eh.

Oh, and I redid the fight, made that switch out, and I won with only two deaths, JarJar and Chad, one of those was only because Haxorus got godtier crit and confusion RNG on JarJar.
Blind nuzlockes are fun.

Yeah TR acquisition fucking sucks, I like the idea of the more powerful moves being 1 use but the TMs need a lot better variety and ability to use on shit that doesn't normally learn them.

So that made me pucker up a fair bit, Galv destroyed her Braviary, Skarm and Mandi, Exca cleaned up, with only Braviary surviving the first turn but got para'd.

Gliscor switched in on middle and Archeops on the right then Braviary got a Hyper Potion then Glav hit another Discharge taking both Arch and Brav under half, and then Rock Slide took Arch out, but Gliscor got Exca and Galv with a EQ nearly killing both.

Switched Cofag into center and Skarm into right, her Swanna coming in on right with Glisc finally knocking Braviary out.

Cofagrigus lived a EQ somehow, no idea how, lvl up? and hit with a weak Hex. Glisc tapped away with Strength and Skarm Protect Roosted.

Had to swap Magcargo in last turn but Freya was faster than her Gliscor and finally won with no losses.

Phew, time to die in Twist Mountain I guess.

Got Through Gateon Port in XD and just had to take a break from Gen3, gonna do Heart Gold with my standard rules.Nuzlocke basics + Champs clause, Dupes Clause, Randomized TMs, Shuffled items, I can use an item after opponent has used one, Double Team Hax clause where I can reset a fight if the enemy spams Double Team/Minimize 2+ times in a row.

I've already used all the Johto starters so I figured I'd use the version exclusives Murkrow and Misdreavus as starters instead.

To answer the Strength question, that anon is playing Blaze Black, a difficulty romhack of Black made by Drayano. Among many other changes, he made Strength a Rock-type move to give that type a strong 100 accuracy move.

i got COMPLETELY demolished by a contrary malamar. at first, i used magnezone to try and toxic the malamar. it missed. i swapped over to delphox to take the incoming superpower. i tried to will-o-wisp to neuter the attack, but it missed and delphox got swamped by a payback. tried to then use yawn with quagsire, got dealt a lot with superpower, so i sacrificed absol as he wasn't in my e4 plans. tried to send in quagsire to deal more damage but he couldn't do much as superpower increased malamar's defense and quagsire's surf wasn't too great. malamar got the early wake up and killed quagsire again. i sent in vileplume to toxic the malamar, missed toxic AGAIN and got shitfaced by a psycho cut. from there i couldn't do much as the malamar took out my remaining lucario and magnezone.
that malamar is tough, man, doesn't help i got really unlucky too. x and y is known for being easy but there's fights like the double furfrou, the medicham in the psychic type gym, motherfucking battle girl hedvig with her bitchass throh and hawlucha, and this team flare guy

Got me sweatin for a little bit, but Rumoi came through. Primeape used Double Team 4 times in a row and Rumoi started missing after the first one. Really powerful team, once he evolves Ampharos will be an amazing addition. Noctlowl is decent long term if you make him a support with Roost, Reflect, Hypnosis, and Air Slash, having a safe switch on ground and special hits is nice for the E4.

Sydney, Phoebe, and Glacia were all easy sweeps. I lost Absol to Drake's Salamence but Absol did good damage to it to let Sceptile get the kill. I'm glad I got the dragon claw TM for Sceptile because its ice hidden power was pathetic. It barely did more than half to one of Drake's Flygons.
Manectric killed Steven's Skarmory and Aggron, and did enough damage to Metagross for Sceptile to get the kill with earthquake. The rest of his team was easy to deal with after Metagross went down.

My poor Goldeen got killed by a Dragon Breath from a level 26 Charmander, turns out it learns it at 19 when everything still has 0 to 40 HP... so that's nice.
Murkrow murdered Morty very thoroughly. Found a Lapras and through it's technically a Union Cave encounter, it's a on-map special encounter that isn't a legendary or a story pokemon so I went with it. Togetic wiped all of Rocket Hideout.

Saw that the evolution items can only be gotten post-game from the pokeathlon dome, decided to say fuck it and give myself the evo items at level 35, well unless I find one like I did with the Shiny Stone.
I saved a bunch of the Gen4 evo pokemon for this reason so not getting to use them, for most the very first time, would suck too much.

Magnemite comes in and T-waves, but it has no effect on Ono. Who kills him with a Dig. Sneasel comes in and does quite a bit of damage with Faint Attack even through Yashio's intimidate. Yashio holds on to 22hp after the 2nd Faint Attack, but kills Sneasel with Flamethrower.

I got a Wooper instead of a Slugma.
I found the Shiny Stone pretty early on, originally it's in the National Park. I thought it was useless and I needed a Dawn Stone to evolve Togetic, but luckily I was wrong.

So with my picks from the Safari Zone, a couple of picks from Routes 42 and 43, and some salt and black pepper-flavored chips, I trawled through baby-leveled trainers to Mahogany Town.

The Lake of Rage and the Team Rocket HQ were basically, what I like to call, "Ducky the Larvitar's Day Out". Ducky the Larvitar, LA Blue Girl the Tentacool, and their chaperones, helped dismantle the Team Rocket HQ--and knocking out the civilian Electrodes who didn't know they were doing wrong.

Ducky's a scrapper though, as she's survived more than a couple Self Destructs from random Koffings. She might get that parking space and evolution yet!

But now, with Whirlpool, the options expand... Do I explore the Whirl Islands? Do I slap Jasmine's pigtails around? Or do I hit up Goldenrod to stop the Radio Massacre?

Staaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay tuned!

I beat Miror B for the first time and rescued Plusle. His Ludicolos weren't too bad but the shadow Sudowoodo was really strong. If Umbreon didn't get two flinches with bite it probably would have gotten more than one kill. I'm looking forward to purifying all of my shadow Pokemon soon.

I leveled to 50 because I remembered that being the limit, turns out it's 48, oh well, no big difference.
Honchkrow absolutely demolished Will, and Togekiss destroyed Koga, Bruno, and Karen back to back.

Tauros Put down Gyarados before going down to a Outrage from Fire Blast Dragonite.
I swapped into Sunflora who lived on very skim HP and countered with a Sleep Powder and then Leech Seed, I knew I had to sack Sunflora to get someone in without getting damaged on a switch so he danced Firenite down to 1/3 to trigger his Sitrus Berry and then took him back to about 2/5.
In came Lapras who got outsped and I throught it was over but Firenite went for Safeguard, so I blasted it with Ice Beam. Lance brings in his Thundernite and it goes down to an Ice Beam after missing a Thunder.
I swap to Gliscor to take a Rock Slide, then another, and countered with Stone Edge and... it didn't kill, Lance healed with Full Restore. I still wnet with SE, maybe it's a range? It was, down went Aerodactyl. He sends in Blizznite, I go for SE and take it down to 1/3, well this is the end surely, he'll Blizzard and down goes Gliscor. No, he misses and is taken out next turn by an Ice Fang! Charizard come in and after tanking an Ice Fang takes my dragonslayer down with an Air Slash.
I send in my crown wearing Togekiss who serene graces me with a Flinch on an Air Slash, Charizard heals, but is taken down by two more Air Slashes.
I'm the Champ on HG and my team is written down in the Hall of Fame, and my fallen friends will be remembered there.

The Johto E4, is my least favourite, not because of the E4 itself which if fine. But the champion, him having three level 50 Dragonites means that if you don't match his level he will kill you because he's got three pseud-legends with very heavy offensive sets, it really kills the E4. So I decided to level to Level 45 next time and then after Karen, I'll Rare Candy myself to match the power level of Lance, I think that'll be more fair and fun.

Lead off with Joyo, so Ono wouldn't get hit with intimidate. Gyarados used Bite. Ono screeched while Gyarados Dragon Raged twice. Ono's new Thunder Fang killed Gyarados.

It used Hydro Pump, non effective on Miyako who used Perish Song. Dragon Pulse did a hefty amount. I send out Chita on another Dragon Pulse. It dragon Pulses again while Chita sets up Light Screen.

Kingdra switches out and I send in Joyo. Joyo kills both Dragonairs
When she returns, Joyo used Fake Tears on Kingdra, while she responds with Hydro Pump which does nothing. Light Screen ends and Joyo sets up another one while Kingdra Smokescreens (lucky!). Kingdra hits Hydro pump, but Joyo finishes the fight with an Ice Beam.

I was sweating bullets, but I did it. A Clair fight without a loss. My first iirc. So glad I wasted so much fucking time on Voltorb Flip. Now to take a picture at Cyanwood with these BEASTS. After getting Yashio to level 42, that is.

Went kind of crazy with purifying and grinding up back ups, don't know why, but I did. The only ones I have left in the whole game are Zangoose, Beedrill, Primeape, and Kangaskhan. I'm not at all sure of my final team.

Victory Road!Silver.

Yashio v. Sneasel ended with a Flamehrower for Yashio. Golbat came out next and lived on a sliver after another Flamethrower. He did confuse ray my dog though. Yashio hit himself in confusion while Golbat used Air Cutter. Yashio did kill him next turn. Haunter was up next, but luckily Yashio snapped free of his confusion and killed it with a Crunch. The Kadabra who followed befell the same fate.

I would say that they are harder on average.
Double Battles are inherently a bit riskier and harder to play around. Few pokemon can survive being crit twice in a row, few pokemon can survive that "Oh, shit, it had a Grass move" moment AND a follow up attack. Raising low level pokemon is really hard, since even once they start barely being okay, they can just die to being hit twice. And every single Shadow Pokemon has a SE move for all of your team.
Then, catching. There are a couple ways to handle catches, I tend to just go max generous, every single Shadow Pokemon is fair game, however, every single Shadow Pokemon is also a risk. It's a double battle, with everything already said about that, but the Shadow Pokemon itself always has an SE move, it usually hitting itself for recoil, and isn't always in a spot in every battle where it can easily be isolated. This makes catching or not catching a more difficult decicion at times. If you KNOW you're not going to use this pokemon, "may as well catch it" is a bigger ask, so you either take more losses catching, or skip encounters to avoid risk, and so don't have options.
Finally, bosses. The bosses in these games really have their shit together, and if you don't prepare EXTENSIVELY for them, they will happily shred 3, 4, 5 team members, just from shit like spamming Earthquake every turn until you have nothing left to switch into, or having a rain team, or preying on RNG.
Evice in particular is also an absolute monster. If you're playing with level caps, you can genuinely end up in a position where you simply do not have the pokemon, moves, and options to deal with his team, and just lose, unless he gives it to you.

Pokemon in the GC games tend to live very short, very brutal lives. Except that fucking Umbreon, that thing will not fucking die.

The second gym leader, Chef Lomar, and his food type Pokemon were easy opponents. I'm honestly very pleased with how effective Humanoid Beedrill has been. She quad resists food and triggered anger point off a multi-hit food type attack Cherry Bomb. A clean sweep all around.
Next up we're on our way through the Ankh Desert on the long trip to Latex Town and the third gym.
We also swapped the team around a bit. Dunspa has been a surprising pillar of the team. I'm hoping he evolves soon before he falls behind but all in all he's been great.
Very hyped to use motherfucking Iskandar, King of Conquerors.

That's why you pack Protect, a dedicated screener, status moves, and general immunity switch strats. Thunder Wave, Yawn, Toxic, Protect, Screens, Intimidate, and Charm are amazing tools in doubles, the ability to shut down one pokemon completely and make the fight a 2v1 is the strat. Might sound annoying but that's generally how I like to play anyway, Baton Pass Volbeat and Ninjask, and stall Dustox were the MVPs of my Bug run in Emerald back in the day.
I was so bummed when I lost my Water Absorb Quagsire in Colosseum to a surprise Solar Beam from Claydol since he had just one weakness, two immunities, and general bulk.

The initial 3 gyms are ruthless as fuck, 1st gym is rotation battle against the 5 starters and monkey that are good against yours and the 2nd and 3rd are double battles, with Lenora starting double intimidate.

I got very lucky on my umpteenth time and got double intimidate mons that got me through but I wouldn't reccomend running if you aren't interested in restarting runs a lot.

There's a couple youtubers that did runs and probably show off just how hard it can be.

Was going to do Sacred but my phone keeps freezing before mr pkmn. Dunno if running Plat is worth it as I loathe the engine even with speed up, thoughts?

Yeah that's what I mean, you need some very lucky encounters early game, give it a go, you might get lucky.

Some of his other hacks are a bit better in the early game, Sacred Gold is gentler early game, was made after BB I believe, BB2 on challenge mode is ridiculous early game but normal mode is nice.

Just found out there is a redux version of BB2 out that includes fairy types so gonna give it a go. Apparently it is about Renegade Plat in difficulty on normal and harder on challenge so I'll see what it feels like.

I decided to not do any grinding at Mt. Battle for now. I'd have to get through about 40 battles before anything close to my level shows up, and that sounds boring. Instead I went back to Pyrite Cave to rematch everyone there and do the optional Miror B. wannabe boss fight, who was actually pretty tough.

We've braved the Ankh Desert and stopped the evil Team Wack from taking the power of the legendary pokemon Kawaidesha in the Ankh Ruins. However we didn't escape unharmed.
We lost our favorite team member, our MVP, Humanoid Beedrill and our tanky Lunasound perished sacrificed herself to heal Papajohn for the win.
Introducing to the team Marvin the Twinztwo and Wakanda the Ujamer!. Marvin has great type coverage while Ujamer's Wonder Guard is actually not too bad with all these extra types since a majority of them don't work.
We've now arrived in the small hamlet of Side Town, one step further to our goal of Latex City and our third badge. However a young girl has gone missing in the Side Quest Woods! Like any good samaritan, it's our job to save her!

I tried again without restarting. I was tryign to not use items in battle and to level cap at the next gym leaders strongest mon, but i gave up on that. I leveled up a little bit and used a bunch of super potions and defeated her. But I lost my Oshawott and Loudred, could have been much worse, but i got some crits with karate chop.

Made it all the way to Roxie, picked up the egg from Floccesy which was not there in original but haven't hatched yet, no areas.

Caught an Intimidate Ekans and grabbed the Squirtle from the jester/clown dude and turns put it got Shell Armor in redux which is excellent.

All leveled up and heading in to take out Roxie now.

Yashio's thunderfang did 70% while Gyarados' Waterfall did 50%. Another Thunderfang killed this 'dragon'.

Aerodactyl was next, but it's completely walled by Ono so two Thunder Fangs did the job. Even it's crit Aerial Ace did basically 0.

Charizard used Fire Fang when I switched in Miyako who laughed it off. Zard then used Shadow Claw while Miyako surfed. Zard lived on 25%.

Lance then switched in his Dragonite(?) It T-waved Miyako before dying to Ice Beam. Surf damage most likely helped.

The second 49 Dragonite came in and used Dragon Rush while Miyako got full Para'd. I switch into Chita to heal Miyako/Reflect but it CRITS leaving Chita on 7hp. I set up Reflect. Close my eyes and Dragonite misses Blizzard. Realising Scarf Joyo basically comes in for free and will handle the rest I send her in and Blizzard does NOTHING and Joyo kills Dragonite2, Charizard and Dragonite3 in quick succession.

Should I do Kanto? I already consider this team the 'champs' for beating the E4, but I might go on to try for Red. But on a 'nobody gets replaced' kind of deal.

Currently grinding everyone up for Cynthia, Missy was and Bruno will be easy to train up because of all the water trainers before Sunyshore and Victory Road respectively, but there are few good grinding spots for Klar, trainers are either using water types, on routes that give an disadvantage to Fire Types, takes too long to charge the VS Seeker (hello snow routes), or are too low level to be worth it. But i am making progress, slowly.

Grats, mate.
You have so much more resources in Kanto that outside of Blue or Red giving you grief with bad luck it's not really worth it. I'd say the first time fighting Lance is the most difficult battle in the game since it's at the end of a gauntlet and he's the biggest obstacle in terms of base stats. Do it for fun if you want but to me Gen2 runs end at Lance.

The grind for Red is retarded. I remember last time I did HG/SS I had such shitty luck in Kanto my savefile ended with 141 hours clocked in. That's why I see this as a bonus and after I beat, or more likely wipe, to Blue I might take a break for regular SS first. Assuming I make it that far. Im in a blazeblack nuzlocke about to fight the bug type gym and i have a few questions.
Do I evolve Ivysaur or give it eviolite? Its only atacking moves are grass and posion types, so he is not gonna be atacking much, mostly using sleep powder.
Was Cranidos better than Archeops? I chose it because it evolves at 30.
Im evolving Herdier and Nidorina.
I also have a Liepard, Corphish and Wormadan on my PC, do I change anyone?

Any recommendations?

I can't say about the Eviolite, but Cranidos was the better option, Archeops has a really bad ability. Stoutland and Nidoqueen are good to have. At least for this Gym, i wouldn't switch in Liepard or Corphish since they're Dark types (or becomes one in the latter's case).

Took a bit to update to I'm a wagie and just slowly finished it over the course of the week. Here are my champions. BestFrienduu is way overleveled and carried a bit but I would like to think all my others being mid-late 50s evened it out. Boxing Klefki for a Sliggoo that I never got the opportunity to evolve maybe wasn't the greatest idea but he won some tough battles which I'll get to.

I went into the Elite 4 with these three, the two who have been with me the longest (Boyo and Torchic) plus my resilient Wiper. I decided the easiest order I could do was Water - Steel - Fire - Dragon. Boyo alone basically manhandled Siebold's team, even Starmie. Wikstrom's Steel types were fodder for Torchic as she just Flamethrower'd them down and Boyo came in for a cheeky Cut into Hammer Arm on the annoying Probopass.

Thinking Malva was the next easiest was a real retard decision. My only team members with effective moves that weren't shit on by fire were Slick and Pancake, both of whom were underleveled for this being 56 and 58 at the time. I had to be cute with a Toxic Sludge on Wiper and stall out with a bunch of healing items. This worked for the first two (Bestfrienduu was a good meat shield) however Wiper got outsped and one shot by her Talonflame's Flare Blitz and was the first man down. My mistake really. I put Torchic in to eat her charges and just whittle her down but this Talonflame kamikazed a fucking CRIT Brave Bird and one shot her from 80% hp. Bestfrienduu cleaned up her Chandelure but damn was it annoying.

And to rub salt in the wound, Drasna's dragon team was really easy. The opener of a Poison type was a bit awkward but went down quickly to 2 Moonblast's and minimal damage. Altaria tried to sing BF to sleep but he broke out of it thanks to his friendship with me (pokemon amie is fucking retarded op) and one shot her with a Moonblast. I played a little risky for some XP and switched into Slick on her Noivern to eat a weak Flamethrower and try to 4x hit it with Ice Beam. I didn't think it would outspeed Slick next turn though and was ready to be mad at myself when he died, but instead he ate the Dragon Pulse on 5hp and one shot Noivern right after. BF cleaned up the last Mon and It was time for Diantha!

She was easy, BF basically wiped half her team immediately and Boyo got a good kill on Aurorus with the 4x Hammer Throw right before Gardevoir came out. I was hoping he could outspeed it and Toxic Sludge her before he died but even with the speed glitch on megaevolves she was still faster and one shot him with psychic. BF basically stalled out the rest of the fight with Light Screen and back and forth moonblasts until I won.

This was fun, might try another one soon and be more strict about leveling.

After making our way to Latex Town we fought the gym leader Claire, a dominatrix with a penchant for...ahem, big rubber apparatuses. There was a close call against her Mega Rubberfly but we managed to clutch it out without casualties.
On the road to the next town, Romero City however, tragedy struck. Our oldest member, Fem the Dunspit, was crit by a mon I forgot was fighting type and perished in seconds. This was a heavy blow but we persevered, adding the newly caught Flarelm to the team. While his stats aren't the highest I think it's supposed to be a starter style mon so I'm expecting good things. It has a fire type Calm Mind in Kindle so he's already putting in work.
All in all the team is really coming together as a whole. The Marvin's in particular are exceeding my expectations.
Now we've just arrived in Romero City and are going in to fight George Romero, the zombie army leader, and liberate this poor town from its oppressive overlords.

Scarf Yashio ate her entire team to bits. Espeon and Mr. Mime took more than one hit, but both did not use attacking moves.

Scarf Miyako surfed his entire team. Rapidash lived and used Bounce, send in Ono when it landed and on the heal switched back into Miyako.

Joyo takes care of Exeggutor with Ice Beam. Arcanine comes in and Flare BLitzes on Miyako, burning her. Miyako gets blitzed again and surfs, but Arcanine survives. Miyako surfs again on the heal but its an even lower roll. Miyako is left on 44hp because Shell Bell nullifies the burn. I send in Yashio on an E-Speed and use Crunch.

Rhyhorn comes in and I send in Chita on a Stone Edge. Magical leaf ends that 1v1.

Pidgeot comes out and I send in Ono on an Air Slash. While Pidgeot slashes away I heal Miyako and Thunder Fang. It does little below half. I send Miyako back in on a Air Slash. Pidgeot's Return does a hefty piece, Miyako beams again it doesn't kill, but it FREEZES Pidgeot. Sitrus then put it outside of healing range and Miya kills it with another Ice Beam.

Machamp is next and Thunder Punches Rumoi. Rumoi's Psychic didn't kill, because once again I traded his Twisted Spoon for something else. Stone Edge doesn't crit, luckily. Another Psychic kills it.

Gyarados uses Return, but due to Yashio's Intimidate it doesn't do much. Thunder Fang leaves it on one. freaking. hp. Gyarados uses Waterfall, but Intimidate+Passho berry made it do basically nothing leaving Yashio on 55/181. With Blue's heal spam it takes another 3 Thunder Fangs to kill it. Knowing Red will take way to long to grind for, I'll probably return to this savefile when I'm done with Soul Silver. Can't speed up on a physical copy after all.

Here is my VoltWhite run, just defeated N at the chargestone cave.
I got destroyed by Clay and Excadrill swiped my entire team, but I acted like that never happened and fought again. I know its cheating but my pokemon were really underleveled and all i had to do was train Crawdant to level 44 to teach it crabhammer and kill Excadrill. Ill stop cheating now. Ive had some good encounters, I got really lucky with that Bagon. Things are looking good

mostly just game knowledge, really. knowing what moves the opponent might have in terms of coverage, how the enemy ai works, knowing what has counter/mirror coat, knowing what has pursuit, what abilities the enemy might have, etc. it's 100% something you pick up while playing the game
also knowing when you're dead to a crit has helped me out a lot

most pain, i'd say ultra sun and ultra moon are ballbustingly hard, but if you've never done a nuzlocke before, the gba games are a great start. both emerald and firered are pretty beginner friendly while still having significant roadblocks to spice up the experience (winona's altaria, may 2, misty, sabrina)
alternatively, black and white can be tough as balls when you're unprepared, especially fights like elesa and clay, ferris wheel N, double herdier twins, twist mountain, dragon gym trainers, etc. gen 5 mons are also packed with ungodly amounts of coverage and high stats so if you're unfamiliar with gen 5, a blind nuzlocke will fuck you up

Then there's the simple fact that there's eleven Zodiac Generals, and the rest are just reserves waiting in the wings to replace any fallen. Also, the Magneton that was founded at the Power Plant IMMEDIATELY rose up the ranks the minute I could surf outside of battle (would've been a Voltorb, but Champs clause is in effect). Cue dunking the Magneton in the ocean, electrocuting Pokemon and Swimmers nearby... how many bodies have I left face-down in the ocean...?

Anyway, between Sabrina's gym, and the Pokemon Mansion, it should be go time!

I finally did it, took long enough! Now I've finished three generations of mainline pokemon games.
Earthquake guy caught me by surprise and wiped most of my B-team, then my A-team Shiftry got nuked by a quad-effective critical Silver Wind. I was worried about having two Ice types with all the weaknesses but it was the right choice for the final encounters.

I've started to use Rare Candies in difficulty ROMhacks. In theory, you can catch as many pokemon as you want and need, you just can't use the illegal ones in battle, and can't use illegal ones for anything you have a legal one you can use instead.

So, for weird cases like Mantyke > Mantine, for extra pokemon/corpses you NEED to use an HM, or if you need an extra pokemon or two to pass a certain story check. The most extreme case would be like, gen 3, if you were down to 1 pokemon for Tate & Liza, I'd say you could catch something to start that battle, it would just have to be minimally survivable, and not contribute at all otherwise to mitigate the impact it has.

Granted, I haven't actually needed rules like this, I always have tons of pokemon for those things, and generally don't care about Mantyke or Pancham if I get them, but, that's my take.
It's no less cheating to catch a random Dark type than it would be to trade for an illegal pokemon, then trade back to get that Machamp, or just hacking the game to fix it, but I also consider both of those fair game.

I send in Arb on an Attract. Arb got flinch'd by the first Stomp, but managed to get a Screech of that actually hit after the other. I send in Isitsu to finish the job with three Magnitudes (4, 8 and 8.) Magnitude 4 did so little I was almost convinced it did like 2hp or something. That gurl didn't get flinched ONCE. I also learned Shell Bell gives health based on the amount of damage you do, which was news to me.

A rare clean Whitney fight. Aside from Arb's first turn, no flinchies. Originally I wanted to trade Rattata for Crobat, but I might wait until after Morty. Definitely going to use Crobat though, it's my favorite Flying Type.

Also just my luck getting the 4% Ditto before a Nidorina :)

It starts off easier but around the Snagem Hideout there's a difficulty spike. The level curve is much better, there aren't any big jumps, there's some jumps later on tho.

Croconaw comes in and water guns on the incoming Arb the Arbok. Arb glares on the Scary Face spamming and after a Screech starts Crunching. It does slightly less than half, but Arb gets the Def drop. Another Crunch kills it. Zubat comes in and Arb kills that too with Crunches.

I switch in Hoho on a Shadow Ball. Gengar Mean Looks Hoho while she uses his gaze against him and puts him to sleep. After setting up Reflect, Hoho starts whittling him down with Confusions. Gengar gets confused and when he finally wakes up, he hits and kills himself. The last Haunter decided to cut half his HP and dies immediately.

So long story short I took down Morty and didn't even get hit. After this update I'll switch up some of my team again. First gonna get the King's Rock for Yado.

Took down Clefairy with Pin Missile which I got from a TM, not before Metronome got a Psychic off. Miltank comes in and I String shot him and Beedrill survives with single digit HP, send in Ekans on a Stomp, it doesn't do a huge amount due to intimidate, then I Glare and Screech Miltank while it struggles with Paralysis. absolute curbstomp. her whiscash had nothing for a dragon dancing gyarados so i got 6 dances off and murdered her team

gastrodon carried it's weight pretty well, had to swap to infernape for a bit to prevent gastrodon from being nuked by a solar beam. unfortunatel, flint's flareon got off a nasty giga impact on gastrodon, killing it

pretty horrible. lost infernape because lucian sent out his bronzong against my froslass. it set up a calm mind, and i figured a flare blitz could take it down, but it left bronzong with a sliver and bronzong took out infernape. after a sloppy bronzong kill, he sends out his gallade and i have no good answer for it. i send out empoleon to hopefully take it out with a surf but his gallade proceeds to get a CRIT on my empoleon, wiping it out. after toxic stalling the gallade, he sends out espeon and i don't have anything good for it, so i send in my froslass to hopefully take it out but it just barely misses the mark again, letting espeon take out froslass. gyarados finishes the espeon and alakazam off and i'm going into cynthia with 2 pokemon

cynthia sends out spiritomb, i send out gyarados. i set up 3 dragon dances and proceed to go on an absolute murdering spree on her team. spiritomb dies to waterfall, togekiss goes down to an ice fang, both her lucario and milotic go down to an earthquake, roserade goes down to another ice fang. finally, her garchomp comes out, and with a x3 dragon dance boosted ice fang, it goes down and i officially beat cynthia
tl;dr: dragon dance is so cheesy but gyarados FUCKS. what a good ass pokemon.
kinda funny how cyrus' pokemon fucked up cynthia

Heres my voltwhite run. Im about to face the last gym. Ive cheated a lot, Ive restarted battles when a lot of pokemon die, but I would have probably lost by now if it wasnt for that, after this Ill play BB2 and wont cheat.

What are the rules for ingame trades? A guy trades his snover for a wailmer, and those blizzards would be really useful in the dragon type gym. I already have a wailmer.
Also, what are the rules for gift eggs? Do they count as encounters? I got this Larvesta from an egg, anyone knows if its guaranteed to be a larvesta?

That egg is always a Larvesta, there are only a few fangames where they give you a randomized egg in certain locations

Too late, I already catched a pokemon in the area, but its sitting on the pc and i never used it. Im already training the snover.
I also got the wailmer as a legit encounter.

I also got an encounter on that route, but its on the pc and i never used it. I think its the wailmer.

Ill pay atention to that in my next nuzlocke

Made it past the second gym then my .sav corrupted. T-T
formatted SD, Updated Twilight++, and removed HiyaCFW so fingers crossed.
Imma do a Pikachu solo run before attempting a locke on official hardware again.

Ubatto hits Wing Attack for 70% damage, but Primeape Double Teams. Ubatto misses and gets a crit Rock Slide on his face which leaves him with 3hp left. I switch in Arb, who keeps missing and getting flinched by Rock Slide until he finally gets off an Acid.

I send in Yado on a Body Slam, Wrath surfs up while Yado's confusion does slightly less than half. Wrath lands hypnosis and keeps going for Body Slam until it gets too dicey for Yado to stay in and I send in my newest crewmember; Coil the Magneton. He gets a body slam as welcoming gift.

Coil dodges a Hypnosis and Thunder Shocks, which leaves Wrath on exactly healing range. Wrath heals while Coil goes for another Thunder Shock. Then, fucky lucky again, Quick claw activates and Coil moves first leaving Poliwrath in slightly over half again + Paralyzed. Fully Paralyzed too. It tries to focus punch but due to T shock hitting he loses it. Chuck heals it again, but Coil ain't having it critting Poliwrath putting him in range for Thunder Shock to kill him.

My luck is bound to run out some time right? Because this is getting a bit unreal.

That's a really strong team. Quilava seems like the odd one out, remember it being a real drag in my Gold run, it just doesn't have the moveset to do much.
