>>50863410I’m sure part of it is culture/tradition at this point, but it’s also a simple, cheap visual indication that someone is affiliated with whatever is going on/allowed to be where they are. They’re more effective than a clip or lanyard that can be obscured, not worn properly, or hard to read, and you can make it out from more angles and further away.
