Are you referring to Set mode vs Switch mode? If you don't already play pokemon games on Set I don't think you're ready for difficulty rom hacks.

Lot of hacks do what you described. Blaze Black's version of Lenora leads with double intimidate and her pokemon spam STAB Retaliates. Skyla is a triple battle and her flying types can hit pretty much everywhere.

I can understand why some of this might feel like bullshit but I think it helps to remember that you're a human playing against a pretty unsophisticated AI. You have effectively an unlimited amount of attempts and a much larger amount of room for creativity. You can counter any of this without too much effort.

Now this I think I can understand to some extent, but if there's no wild pokemon nearby that can counter that, it's a shit hack and you shouldn't waste your time anyways.

At the very least you don't have two since all you'd have to do is open with them and intimidate becomes a non issue.

In-game double battles are already a pain in the ass because you build your team around singles, which makes up 99% of the game.
Thankfully, in the actual games, double battles are mercifully easy and just kind of annoying.
Romhacks decide to try and make the double battles challenging by actually equipping your opponent for double battles in a way that you aren't.
