Gen 1 is the best because it started the whole concept and introduced great Pokemon designs.
Gen 2 is the best because it added items and shinies, and Johto is a comfy ancient Japan region.
Gen 3 is the best because it added natures and abilities.
Gen 4 is the best because it added needed evolution lines and introduced the physical/special split.
Gen 5 is the best because it added triple battles, great Pokemon designs, and a great region layout.
Gen 6 is the best because of the EV reset punching bag, and added horde battles and megas.
Gen 7 is the best because um, um Z moves and Mimikyu?
Gen 8 is the best because um, um gigantamax?

You see, there is no argument for gen 7 or 8 being the best, but there are legitimate ones for gen 1-6.

Gen 6 is tremendously disappointing.
The first Gen where you legitimately can’t catch them all without hacking, No 3rd game or remake that usually fixes or expands on the first game, ORAS being worse than Emerald when HG/SS exists.

You probably can’t call it the worst gen but you definitely can’t call it the best.

1. the boss battles have are 2v1 instead of 1v1

Overworld encounters are shittier than random encounters if done poorly. It's one of the things I dislike about a lot of newer DQ games, the overworld encounters are ridiculously easy to avoid, and it's hard to gauge whether you're underleveled or overleveled.

Nope. Even poorly done OW encounters are better than any kind of random encounters.

Poorly done OW encounters are shitty because it incentivizes grinding on top of removing any sort of tension. There's no pressure, no surprise moments that can fuck you over, but at the same time you still gotta get your fights in so you can be at the appropriate level for boss. It feels more like filling in a quota. Pokemon kind of avoids that because trainers are your main experience source instead of random battles, but I still wouldn't call it an inherent positive.

They definitely don't. I played DQ11 and I was constantly underleveled. I get Veronica, she's 2 levels above my party. Sylvando is 4. And it keeps going and going. It's like the game is saying, go grind dumb shit, because the monsters are so fucking stupid they won't reach you unless you're cornered or make a mistake. I'm not going to grind because a victory feels unearned if I have to grind for it, and I never needed to in the end, but it still bothers the hell out of me.

I'm speaking specifically of OW encounters in general. I said Pokemon already kind of avoids that because trainers are your main source of experience anyways. But a lot of these games make it braindead to avoid these encounters. So the experience curve isn't very tight, you can't really deduce an average of how many fights the player will get into on the way to the next goal, meaning players will have to go out of their way to get into fights so they don't become underleveled.

Cinderace became my favorite 'mon after my first playthrough, Marnie, Hop and Bede are all high on my favorite rivals list (Silver is still number 1, yes I'm biased) and I don't love the idea of DLC but I loved the DLC content regardless, except for the fucking diglett hunting.

And then they sold back most of the missing pokemon in dlc. I honestly cant tell if that was more shady marketing practice or they legitimately fucked up or just hate their fans. I dont give a fuck anymore really. Im over gen 8. The only gen in all of pokemon I never played. Oh and Houndoom my all time favorite still cannot exist in galar. So fuck that.
And as someone whos half English I found all the references condescending, cringy or just shallow and soulless, like masuda read an article on hot tourist spots in the UK and stopped there.

Sometime I wonder whether these posts are false flags. Gen 6 is far and away the EASIEST Gen for completing the Dex.

"Generation VI is the only generation in which:
It is possible to import Pokémon from previous generations, but is not required in order to complete the National Pokédex (excluding Mythical Pokémon)."

And they even did a 20th anniversary giveaway of all the remaining Mythicals near the end of Gen 6.
