Plusle and Minun.
they evolve the way Shelmet/Karrablast do except with an item on each to make it even more annoying.
They both evolve into the same Pokémon.

They should get a common evolution. I don't think Pokemon has plenty of split evos but I don't think they have ever done convergent evolution lines.

Plusle and Minun - but to make it interesting, make it a convergent evolution so they both evolve into the same Pokémon. The ability of the evolution would just depend on which Pokémon you evolved it from (not plus/minus, something better)
