I prefer white hyper beams but orange is fine. Purple looks kinda cool but doesn't really scream "hyper beam" to me

Hyper Beam was in fact purple in the Gen 6 games, the anime rips the move animations straight from the games, which is why they change so drastically between series. That's also why Stone Edge changed some sharps rocks being flung as projectiles to sharp rocks coming out of the ground

Stone Edge has always looked like that in the games. The rocks always came from the ground.
