USUM makes edits to the games story to reduce the amount of text but that makes the story shit and it changes the ending so the waifu had a good end instead of a bittersweet one. SM is a great game if you can handle reading and if you just slow down and enjoy the rich building done to Alola as a region. At release /vp/ wws pretty positive too. It's on replays that SM falls apart because there's just so much text and you don't like Lillie you're gonna be frustrated. USUM has a great gameplay campaign and it's worth playing but skipping to it is a bad idea.
XY is really only gonna be fun if the idea of 3d Pokemon is novel to you, which at this point it shouldn't be. If you turn the EXP All off it can also be a good game to Nuzlocke. ORAS is a good time if you want to just catch Pokemon. It is piss easy but the DexNav is a nice feature and soaring to find legendaries under specific conditions without a guide can be fun.
