That doesn't really count. In-universe the Shellder can let go whenever it wants and Slowbro/Slowking will revert to a Slowpoke, and in-game they never bothered retconning the evolution to work as stated.

Kyurem-Black, Kyurem-White, Necrozma-Dusk-Mane, Necrozma-Dawn-Wings, Calyrex-Shadow, and Calyrex-Ice are all just glorified alternate forms if we’re being honest.
What Dynamax should have been was Fusing both Pokemon on the field in double battles, then having singular incredibly strong fusion for a few turns.
