If he wanted to make the last rival fight more consistent, he could have spammed out Harden versus Rhydon, even if it didn't actually bump his defense. Since Rhydon has a 50% chance to use a defense-dropping move, not only would he get a Badge Boost Glitch off of that, but he would get an extra BBG undoing that defense drop. But that's sort of splitting hairs
