Cynthia likely won't use the same Pokemon against Ash aside from Garchomp, especially when she has two new Pokemon that debuted in this season's Sinnoh specials (Kommo-o and Roserade) + she's not the final boss, Leon is, so there's no need to make Cynthia look invincible.

If Iris is able to push Cynthia to her last Pokemon and Mega Evolve it, then Ash beating her becomes a lot more believable.
