There are ancestors of familiar characters but they are nothing but cheap fanservice; their personalities or actions don't add much to the background of their descendants (Mars' ancestor was a hairdresser, so what? Cynthia's ancestor is basically a Satanist, okay?) and others only show plotholes since they didn't bother to retcon the new lore in BDSP (Rowan's ancestor is the founder of Team Galactic and eventually passed on the title to Cyrus' ancestor, yet Prof. Rowan doesn't acts like he's aware of Team Galatic's origins or why it turned into a evil organization)
