Locked behind an event in BW. In BW2 you can only use N's, and breeding is postgame for some reason. It's pretty bad compared to the Riolu egg you get from a neat sidequest.

I think Zoroark is what destroyed event exclusives being so unobtainable.
They realized how fucking stupid it was making your next shillmon something most people won't get.
Wi-fi was the bullet that shot it in the head, but Zoroark was the reason for trying to find a gun to kill the concept dead.

Wifi was introduced in gen 4. The event mons needed to unlock Zoroark were distributed over wifi.

For what it's worth, it still ended up being fairly popular. Just not as much as Game Freak clearly wanted. Anyways, beyond the valid reasons people gave like it being event locked and its gimmick not being that cool in practice, I'd just argue that its design may just be a bit too niche to appeal to the hyper casual audience of Pokémon. Yeah, it's cool and edgy, but how many people were actually wowed by this compared to something like Lucario or Greninja?

You can't obtain it in a vanilla playthrough of gen 5 games and the only zoroark you get through normal gameplay is in bw2 but that one is always male. You can't get a female one unless you have the event one but you need HGSS event mons for that

The fuck you're smoking? It has like 5x the porn Zeraora has and more than Cindersgrace. It's also considered one of the most attractive Pokemon making it to #3 in that one big poll. And it's also well liked by the general fanbase.

The gimmick it has can't be turned off. Maybe I want my Zorua/Zoroark to appear as they are instead of the other mons. Wish it had a fucking hidden ability so I had a choice. Otherwise would be a perfect husbando mon.
