>>50957682Yep, the whole thing was basically a kid's game influenced by 80's/early 90's Japanese pop culture, from the original concept being a wholesale rip-off of Hooi-Poi Capsules (you were originally meant to be able to buy critters in shops at one stage). It's just continuing its bent of tributing, homaging or referencing the wider gaming industry or pop culture (Ledian and Rotom referencing Pulseman, T-tar being a Godzilla reference, Arceus being a Japanese creation myth reference).
Kinda facetious to cry about their habit of references, while absolutely accepting past ones, due to being a fucking kid and not seeing them for what they were (I saw stand by me before I was 15, so I knew when I saw the reference at that age what Red and Blue were talking about when they said "four boys are walking on train tracks").
