That's the final finishing positions for the Masters bracket of the GBL. Leon top-scored, Cynthia finished runner-up (Lance was runner up last tourney), Steven 3rd and so on. Ash even won his spot in the last days of the League by beating Flint to take 8th spot.
Meanwhile, Cynthia's been popular with the fanbase from gen and year she was introduced, so I don't know what you're trying to infer.

Lancefags don't exist, Stevenfags are either fags, May shippers, or fujos who cream themselves to him jobbing to Red (Ash in this case) above all else, no one actually likes Iris, and no one actually likes Diantha.
Everyone in this is a non-character except Steven but he's here explicitly to job to Ash in order to fulfill the closest thing to a canonical "Steven jobs to Red" scenario that isn't in the PWT, all so fujos can get off.

Should've just changed the guard and had Iris fight Ash in the semifinal. Would've been significantly better that way. I'm not even that much of a fan of Cynthia, but she's going to lose in a fucking dumb way and it's annoying that this is so predictable.

The thing is, there's nothing new to get out of Ash VS Iris a second time. He mogged her on their first match before the Masters 8 was announced. Even with her "Dragon Heart Sync" shit it doesn't matter, Ash is on enough plot armor that he could beat even someone like Saitama so long as he threatened this faggot's chances of reaching his fated battle with Leon at the finals.

It won't happen. Ash is on a level of Plot Armor that even Akira Toriyama would laugh and say "Isn't that a bit much!?" that guarantees anyone that's in his way to facing Leon at the finals WILL fall to him.

He went from 1 to 1000 capable of fighting and beating Champions after 6 regions of not being able to being able to beat a league and the league he actually won being one where you can count with one hand the amount of trainers who had more than 2 Pokemon and with a team of newly caught Pokemon with two of the members including the ace being literally months old.

The story would be perfect for me if:

This would show that Ash is the real deal and has come a long way. It would give a nice closure to Leon who needs to chill a little bit and it would show that Ash still has the potential to grow and that there is always someone to push you to better yourself. I think it would be the perfect bittersweet ending for the series.
