Do people actually collect every Pokemon and complete the entire dex? It seems like such a massive waste of time.

I have a living regional dex in Emerald (working on national)
living national dex in Heart Gold
living regional dex in Black 1
I transferred up my living gen 6 dex up to gen Ultra Sun and finished the regional dex there as well, and have the regional dex in Sword, but didn't care enough to complete the DLC dexes.

"Gotta catch em all" has been dropped as a slogan since Gen 3, and has only shown up in merchandising. It hasn't been the point of the games in a long time. Probably because the first two gens had fuck all to do besides go and try to catch everything, while later games added more general content, as well as the amount of Pokemon increasing to absurd levels.
