Showderp is a demonstrated failure. 100 or so battles 90 of which have modchat and 0 users with the rest of the active ones not amounting to an actual active chat from oldderp even when combined. And, to further fuel the fire, every single user is actively belligerant towards champ: "x is specs weedle," "y are assvest limber ditto," "z is rhyperior," a constant stream of useless suggestions and a constant stream of lies, slander and division rapid fired at champ. There isn't a good rate of consistent valuable battles or discussion being generated by it instead most of the time is spent against boring opps and circlejerking about zangoose or porygon2. While oldderp did have some of the same issues, another thing it did have was tens of thousands of active users, and when you have that many people the noise gets easily drowned out. With what's left of us in this place those who are hellbent on ruining it for everyone are loud and obnoxious, so loud and obnoxious in fact that it is impossible to ignore that noise, you can learn to live with it, at best.
When jannies cracked down on showderp and the dogars client was created, it was never meant to be a replacement for it but more of a temporary solution waiting for the mods to stop dilating. But the jannies never got rid of modchat and thus, it did begrudgingly become the new permanent "solution," but no one ever felt like it was.
Showderp is a demonstrated failure which had a sliver of a chance in its infancy because of the whole zarel debacle scattering everyone around, but every attempt towards building it up for the better was completely botched every step along the way. Everyone from users to the administrations to the various suggestions has grown entirely apathetic towards working to the original goals of making it a new home for showderpers, and the few ones who still care are too few or too incompetent to make a difference. It's over.
