>>50983641The idea that Milotic is an oarfish is nonsense that only gets touted as the truth because people treat the "Origin" sections on Bulbapedia as gospel.
Milotic has far more differences with oarfish than similarities. The only thing Milotic has in common with Oarfish are the reddish strands on it's head. There's also the serpentine body, but even on that front Milotic's body is thick and almost perfectly round (you know, like a lamprey or a hagfish...) as opposed to the extremely vertically flat body of an oarfish. Meanwhile, the differences include:
>completely different coloration and patterning>completely different headshape>completely different eye color and shape>different habitat (Feebas and Milotic almost always appear in freshwater, especially in the games, while oarfish are strictly saltwater animals) >Milotic has no dorsal fin, while oarfish do>Milotic has a fan-like fin at the end of it's tail, while oarfish don't>Milotic has circular, dot like gills (Which is a unique, distinctive feature of Agnatha, by the way) while oarfish have the more common crescent shaped gills.
