>>50998316You said two very wrong things in the first sentence.
>The power level forces you into very limited mons and strategiesEspecially in terms of Kaizo, this is incorrect. There are multiple strategies that can be used to defeat any boss or trainer in the game.
There's also a reason why a lot of Emerald Kaizo successful runs in particular don't wait thousands of days for Mirage Island to get an E4-crushing Pokemon, because partially it's not at all necessary and what you can use isn't really limited.
You're correct there are just some games that are outright too difficult to nuzlocke, but those aren't really focused on.
>which goes against the main point of nuzlockes IMO, constructing and managing a "random" arrayThe whole point of nuzlockes is just to increase difficulty, you do so by constructing and managing an array, you're conflating the method with the purpose.
I mean in Kaizo, mons like Sunflora, Illumise, Luvdisc, Chimeco etc. can all have incredible value and save your run, and learning these mons are useful sounds exactly what you what you're talking about with assembling a collection of low-bst shitmons. Sure you can't take them to the E4, but the E4 aren't the only hard part of the game.
And while yes, there are certain early game encounters that are optimal more than others, there is nothing anymore that provokes an outright reset on getting bad luck, you can make it through the game with several options.
I agree that it can seem like a spreadsheet if you boil it down to its base elements, but playing it personally I've never gotten that impression at all. I also imagine you get this impression from watching streamers who treat it like a spreadsheet because they need to optimize everything and show off how smart they are when that's never been a necessity.
