I think a starter is allowed to change color as long as they still have what made them their original typings

I'm starting to wonder if the last stage of the gator blows fiery smoke out of its nostrils that looks like a bird or it has wild hair that rises up like a bird, but it's not an actual bird. Both would work with what it is, though I'm leaning the latter because that would also make it look a little bit more like the Spanish Boogeyman which I still think is an influence

I understand where your coming from
but you can't tell me that every past starter doesn't still highlight their general type color
Alternate forms like Mega's and Regionals are only because the regular pokemon already exists.
It's not too late to suddenly break the pattern, but I feel the starters keeping their colors is a game design choice that was made on purpose and should continue to stay.

Incineroar is mostly black but he still has red highlights to signify the fire type, same with Chestnaught having green highlights.
It feels weird that Sprigitio 3 doesn't have any green at all, if his neck flower was Green, would've made more sense
