It's crazy that Tobias was never mentioned before, just appeared out of nowhere to rob Ash of a victory in a season where he was doing extremely well, and then disappeared off the face of the earth.
Perhaps he never existed to begin with, and he was merely the hand of Arceus slapping Ash down for thinking he could win a real league.

I like this because it really makes him look like some bigger than life phantom stranger legend.
He appears, has no past or connections, absolutely destroys everyone, and vanishes back leaving people wondering if he was even real.
Incredibly based character. At this point giving him a backstory and another appearance would just ruin what made him so good in the first place.
