Lance isn't marketable enough for the zoomcooms. Zoomers just see him as a joke because (DUR HE ONLY SPAMS HYPER BEAM, and DURR THREE DRAGONITEs, DURR BIRD KEEPER). Coomers don't like him because he isn't a "mommy" and none of his Pokemon are fuckable while Diantha has Gardewhore. Also, Dragons aren't considered cool anymore and only exist to job to Fairies.

Shillmons need to be visually appealing from all angles. Appletun does, it's consistent. Salamence only looks good grounded, and at a certain angle. It's hard for them to do 4 legged shillmons, so I imagine they're redesigning it.

I always hated how they spent a year and some change hyping up Ash's fight with Clemont but the star in that match is some rando pokemon he caught and speedran the evolution of only to dump it immediately after. Raichu is always a funny one because you'd think Ash would be able to easily counter it by now with Pikachu but he gets dominated in every initial encounter with one and has to win in the revenge match. Even in the new series Ash had to recall him and use Gengar instead iirc.
