Already got a couple anime-esque characters mapped out
>young boy and girl from Pewter City
>they happen to be looking for their first Pokemon in the same place at the same time
>Girl spots a cute Jigglypuff, boy has his eye on a cool looking Mankey
>Throw Pokeballs at the same time, they ricochet in mid air and they both end up catching the wrong Pokemon
From their they just kinda do the typical Ash stuff, travel to each region and battle the League. Only difference being they actually age and grow

I was actually having so much fun last time that I made a new template based on this one for a post-league Poketopia arc taking place after the Lily of the Valley conference like the Battle Frontier in AG.
Still trying to find a way to put all the match-ups in one pic without it looking super janky.

Depends on how it presents itself. Sounds like that could either be really fun or really boring. Like maybe if each shiny was its own arc and of chasing down rumors and leads. Then using research and skills to get the catch.
Sort of like those Project Mew episodes in Journeys but stretched out into arcs with filler shenanigans in between.
Is that the sort of thing you had in mind?

I'm a part-time artist and trainer born in the Unova region with my starter pokemon, Emboar. I probably won't be important enough to hang around with famous trainers like the gym leaders, elite four members and champions, but I'll still explore the world doing what I love with my pokemon and companions.

Seeing as sometimes the anime ignore rules and come up with new ones, I was wondering if I could make a weaker version of Victini my starting partner, it's my favorite Pokemon/shouldermon but I feel guilty about using a mythical due to it's power, what do you guys think?

Not really
It's just a League with a special ruleset that 'disqualifies' the Pokemon and disables its Pokeball once it's fainted. It doesn't actually die

There aren't refs, it's not a traditional Gym+League challenge.
It's set on a huge artificial island with a 'battle royale'-esque formula. All contestants are dropped off and left to their own devices until everyone is knocked out.
