>>51024827Each gen has something that makes it worth playing, gen 1 was good and even though it was broken as shit it still was the first generation so there's lots of nostalgia. Gen 2 was filled with passion and new mechanics that make it the best pokemon game to play on the original Gameboy consoles. Gen 3 introduced events and contests, along with having some of the best spin-offs. Gen 4 was most zoomers first pokemon game, DPP were great games and platinum had a great battle frontier that improved on emeralds in every way, and HGSS were just remakes of GSC that added everything good about gen 4 and gen 2 together into a remake that people argue hasn't been topped to this day. Gen 5 was a soft reboot, despite it not being very popular the games look amazing and have some of the best stories told in pokemon. Gen 6 was the first 3d handheld game, though XY feel a bit unfinished it's still worth it to go and see what they were trying and the online was arguably the best we've gotten to date, along with ORAS basocally being RS 2 and having great quality of life changes and some great new mega designs. Gen 7 had the best boss battles in the series, they're some of the hardest mainline games and really show what was possible with the 3DS. Gen 8 had an amazing roster of new pokemon, say what you will about the main story but the pokemon are just great, most have signature moves and have different playstyles to seperate them from pokemon from previous gens. I don't know of PLA counts as gen 9 but either way it's still revolutionary for the series and worth a playthrough. Each pokemon game has something for somebody, even though you may hate some games they all have something people love and are probably someone's favourite, there is no "definitive gen" to play and ignore other games since they each add something new and interesting that makes them worth experiencing, even if it's just once.
