Wallace got reduced to cucking assets to prevent a meeting and got rekt off-screen, F for Wallacefags
Lisiafags are chill, but got unfortunately sideshafted because of Serena's return in the same debut episode of their Lisia, generating arguably the biggest hype.

Otherwise a decent Koharu/Eevee-centric episode, with Serena-Senpai speedrunning Friendship points with their same starting grounds.

Contestfags got shafted hard by applying the ORAS conception of it to bend it into Lisia's favor instead of providing a second Pokemon to fit the old formula.

Great Overwork of Serena's design, A confidence only rivaled by Ash or Dawn, apparently hard-working and talented enough to tie within a short span after her arrival in Hoenn with a long-time contestant Pro of Contests Live, even forming a Idol Duo with her after.

Last Minutes:
A good minute of great animation material, great setting and a feeling of temporary contemplation after 6 years of waiting and exceptions stacking up.
Just 2 companions feeling nothing more than a growing happiness the moment they both recognize each other, cut short in surprise by the departure of the boat but unwavering in the bliss of that chance encounter.

Just 2 kids who are happy with where they are, with their friends and pokemons by their side, how far they have come, and the road that is still a long way to go. And yet both share one vision: Going down their own way straight ahead towards the future, knowing that their paths will cross again eventually. Nothing stopped the serenity of the encounter for Serena, who milked it down to the very second nor for Ash, who never felt anything else than complete happiness and pride for his companion, no matter what awaits them.

TL;DR: An 8/10 Episode with a 9/10 overwork of Serena, an 3/10 for badly handled split focus and a 11/10 Meeting between Ash and Serena.

Its sad how hard PM is trying to become like XY, knowing full well they are NEVER gonna be able to top it.

They just dont have the budget, the talents, the passion for their work they had back then. Its sad to think about it, but dont have to be, instead we should be happy it happened in the first place.

Animators years from now are going to study this series and stumble upon such a masterpiece of a season sandwiched between the abhorrents BW and SM. They will study and analyze on what went so right, try to recapture the SOVL that was Pokemon XY and Pokemon XY&Z.

There is a group of people who attach their personality to trying to make a season look the worst.

They can't accept their season was surpassed, so they dishonestly pretend the animation is great, the writing is good, the cameos are not shallow, Ash winning is justified...

If Ash vs Cynthia isn't animated up to snuff then I really don't think we can say much positive about the M8. Ash vs Leon will most likely be animated well, but I don't think it'll help how underwhelming this feels for what is supposed to be the biggest tournament in history overall.

I still stand by the fact Ash vs Leon will be a tie. If Ash loses, then Leon's story will fall flat and Leon will be in the exact same spot he started. They'd HAVE to introduce someone stronger because they can't keep him "the strongest best ever undefeated", when they have a new region and Champ to show off. If Ash wins then there's going to be narrative issues with him being the current strongest trainer in the world and the writing to try to continue him will feel like nothing more than DEM to keep him the underdog. If they tie at least Leon will see someone is as strong as him, and he needs to keep working because he couldn't BEAT Ash, and Ash can still realistically continue slightly better than if he won.

Its insane how the series has been in damage control for over 6 whole fucking years by now.
Serves them right. I will never, EVER forget these assholes for how the kalos league ended. Im glad people complained and keep bringing it up. I'm glad the senior animators fucking dipped after XY, leaving a mess of a series with garbage quality. Im glad the budget got cut to a fucking eight or whatever the hell they have to work now, considering how fucking cheap the M8 battles look. Im glad people went to mass dislike the TV Tokyo channel and brought up the higher-ups attention. Im glad Rica Matsumoto, the writers, the animators and EVERYONE involved in the series agreed with the fans on that bullshit.

Im so fucking glad they are STILL paying for the broken dishes. Im so fucking glad SMaggots and JourNegros get harassed every single day for pretending the fucking corpse that was left after XY is anything near good. Ash is going to win, because the suits are fucking scared of another riot like the one that happened in 2016. The fans want him to win, and thats what they're going to get.

No more bullshit. No more losses. The times where we got cucked over and over, generation after generation, are fucking over. This series is over, Ash is a top tier champion level trainer who can compete against the strongest superboss characters in the entire franchise and fucking beat them. Ash's journey is over, he has reached the last bit of development as his character, becoming the strongest trainer in the entire world.
